Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep golden/light amber color with a one finger white head. The head fades very fast leaving only a light level of lace on the side of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is mainly of a bready nature mixed with some sweeter fruit like smells almost of a prickly pear and cactus smell ( I am not sure what agave smells like so..).
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter flavor of citrus mixed with a good dose of a wheaty and bready taste. Flavors of honey (and maybe agave,;l again I am not 100 % sure what this should taste like so..) come to the tongue shortly after with some of the bready flavors dwindling a bit. The honey mixed with the wheat flavors are rather nice and with the sweeter citrus flavor end up leaving a sweet and smooth flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the brew is on the slightly creamier side for a brew of only 5.6 % with a carbonation level that is rather average. It is nice for the sweeter and wheaty flavors of the brew and furthermore help accentuate the smoothness of the brew.
Overall – A bit on the sweeter side but not bad as the honey and wheat go nicely together. Well worth a try for its modest price.

DATE TASTED: February 22, 2014... GLASSWARE: Weihenstaphaner weizen .. OCCASION: final night to cheer on our winter Olympians... APPEARANCE: copper-gold body with uneven effervescence; thin, off-white head presents no immediate thickness; no tracing = not inviting... AROMA: pungent,, malty; tougher to pick out thee agave--comes across more as a candied apple...PALATE: a bit dry; slight, oily mouthfeel--drinkable but indistinguishable...TASTE: tangy, metallic aftertaste; malty, syrupy sweet; some fruity, lemony wheatgrass too; rather bland, however, like an original Blue Moon that got itself confused at the factory... OVERALL: I feared this review--not interested in slamming tonight--and yet the beer did not repulse as its first summer sampling had--only wet my lips and slightly refreshed my thirst...did the delayed rating weaken its taste? ...
