From BeerAdvocate Magazine #80 (Sep 2013):
We are not sure what the hoopla is all about; yet another fancy bottle, more alcohol and grapes to add some so-called character to their idea. Plain comes to mind, a spruced-up malt liquor is what we are experiencing here, and with a bigger price tag. Yeah, we know it’s all malt and “crafty,” but we are still not buying into their concept.
STYLE: American Pale Wheat Ale
ABV: 8.5%
AVAILABILITY: Limited
LOOK: Brilliant golden color, thin lacing
SMELL: Faint vinous character, grainy, clean, floral, melon rind
TASTE: Bready, slight crispness, medium bodied, hint of white grapes, slight vinous alcohol, herbal, floral, modest hop bitterness, clean aftertaste, dry ending

750mL brown bottle dated October 21 2013
Blue Moon Proximity poured a clear soft golden color forming a 1/2-finger white head that dissipated to a very small collar of foam with no lacing. The nose is floral, dominated by light fruit, green grapes and grassy. The taste is also dominated by sweet grapes and light citrus with just a touch of wheat noticed. Mouth feel is light, crisp, and clean with medium carbonation.
Proximity has wine like characteristics with just enough pale wheat to "save it". Not sure this beer is an American Pale Wheat Ale...then again not sure what style it is - maybe a Hybrid Style Fruit /Vegetable Beer???

Ug, friend brought this and I decided I would jot down some notes to see how bad it could be.
Light fizzy head disappears quickly, clear watery golden color.
Nose sad mild white wine, little fruity, poorly fermented lager, light malts, little husky, light unhappy lager, mostly like cheap white wine.
Taste light and little unhappy lager, icky lager yeast esters, very light white over oxygenated slightly tart wine, light dusty malt, dry finish with light sweet malt, sweet adjunct too, mild very mild bitter. No skunk at least. Some wheat character though.
Mouth is lighter bod, decent carb, surprisingly light on alcohol.
Overall barely a beer, very cheap and not well done in any aspect. But at least it's not offensive and it's somewhat tolerable.

A- Pours light golden in color and fairly clear. Small head forms and is gone just as quickly. Lacing isn't there without the head.
S- White grapes, light and grassy scents, and a bit of wheat malt.
T- Light and grassy up front, but then the wine flavors kick in. The grapes make a brief appearance, but then give way to a bit of wheat flavor and traditional dry wine flavors. Really follows the same flavor profile as a sauvignon blanc, but tastes a little stale, could be due to the age of the bottle.
M- Light in body with high carbonation to go along with the heavier flavor. Sits in the stomach a little, but not too badly.
Overall, this isn't really a beer person's beer. This would be a good crossover for the wine drinker, with just more prominent wheat flavors.
