Best before July 15, 2013 stamped on the bottle, my pour left me very nearly the perfect pour for a Stout. Black, with a +1 finger head of billowy foam. Very nice.
The smell department is a bit lacking. I made nasal noises trying to pull aromas out but all I can get is a hint of some roasted malt.
The taste, is another thing. Pretty bold flavours here of roasted malt, dark chocolate bitterness, a hint or 2 of coffee. A few more sips in and there's kind of a milk stout sweetness that peeks in now and then. This is quite good.
To me, this is close to full bodied with the right amount of carbonation.
Overall, a very nice surprise here. Not as dry as most of the Irish Dry Stouts I've tried but it's in the ballpark and when I come right down to it, it pleases my palate and is easy drinking. Well done.
