George Killians Irish Stout 6pk bottles $6.99(OH)

12 oz brown bottle poured into a pint glass. freshness date is painted/stamped in yellow just below the bottle neck. lick you finger and it rubs off very easy.

pours almost black. the same color as Guinness. put some air between the bottle and your glass and it leaves two fingers of tan head. it don't last long and gives way to minimal but passable lacing.

i smell roasted malts, peanuts maybe, some hints of coffee and caramels. smells mellow but sweet.

it tastes better than Guinness. slightly sweet but still very toasted and mellow. of course you taste the roasted malts upfront, then a sweet blend of coffee, caramels and a hint of nuts. finishes sweet and not dry at all. nice carbonation in a stout too.

mouth feel is good. feels great. light to medium bodied. sweet and mellow. not dry or very bitter at all.

overall light years better than Killians Irish red, and in my opinion better than Guinness. not really a dry stout. its on the sweet side. but still good and a great price too. a good brew from miller-Coors. wow, never thought i would say that.

Bottle date: JUN3014

Dark brown body with a thick, foamy, light tan head. Good roasted grain smell. Light milk chocolate flavor with a wee bit of hop bitterness. Light bodied with dry finish.

A drinkable yet rather forgettable dry stout. It has dark grained flavors going for it but nothing that really makes it stand out. The body seems rather weak and could use more body. Definitely fits the style profile but doesn't really offer anything unique yet still very drinkable.

I recently tried Killians Irish Red, Was not overly impressed, However I tried Killians Irish Stout the same afternoon, and I was seriously impressed. To me it had hints of a slightly smoky coffee taste, but that only added to the overal flavor. It was very distinct and flavorful, every sip from start to finish maintains a good body with no nasty aftertaste. It was good overall, I have no complaints.
