Dry, chalky, metallic, and sweet American Amber
___

A: Actually not a bad look... pretty blood ruby clear body with ample carbonation bubbles, and a surprisingly large but not all that persistent sudsy khaki head.

S: Very dusty and slightly spicy malt, very euro, and a bit of sweet caramel malt. Slight metallic, adjuncty smells as well.

T: Notes from the nose are all there... the malt is actually quite sweet, but along with them are a lot of metal.

M: A bit chalky and dry in a bad way.

O: my gateway beer... surprised it worked!

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into tulip.

pours out a deep mahghony red color, good clarity, a nice retentive layer of off white head with some fairly tight bubbles. a bit of lace from a swirl of the glass.

a very clean aroma, not a whole lot going on. mineral water and just some faint biscuit malts. a bit of fruits and caramel as it warms.

some sweet caramel flavors and just a touch of bready biscuit malt. just enough hops to balance, but none are really noticed in the taste. just a touch herbal and papery.

carbonation is a bit high, body is light, finish is crisp.

to me this isnt that great of an irish red or even really an "irish red" per say by style, but it is a decent amber lager. i would never buy this, but gladly choose it over any macro when in a pinch.

Single finger head with nice lacing on a clear light amber body. Aroma is a little musty with mostly sweet caramel malt and mild hops. Flavor is pretty sweet mostly following the caramel malt with a musty hop finish. Medium body and moderate to high carbonation. Overall a drinkable beer limited mostly by its mildly musty and bitter finish.

I poured a bottle into a mug.

Appearance- Deep copper red with a two finger head. Decent amount of foamy lacing.

Smell- Malty and slightly nutty.

Taste- Mildly sweet malt with caramel and nutty notes.

Mouthfeel- Light bodied and smooth. Nice carbonation and slightly dry at the finish.

Overall- I really enjoy this beer. I think the only reason some of the beer snobs don't is because it is made by Coors.

will always be one of my favorite beers on tap!! i used to work for a distributor in ohio that was the bigggest seller of killians in the country. the beer is great but the company sucked to work for. always suprised me that it doesn't sell more to the mainstream but i guess thats a good thing
