Stopped in during a trip to KC, to find a craft beer bar that seems deceptively larger inside than it appears from without. The tap list was quite decent, and kept updated on a couple large-screen monitors above the bar, complete with little keg gauges to show approximately how much is left of each beer.

Bar staff seemed to really know their beer, and there's a sizeable bottle collection that takes up an entire wall of coolers, either for on-site consumption or as a bottle shop. There's a relatively small and simple food menu, which includes some particularly tasty brats. The crowd is friendly, the atmosphere laid back, the feel much like a comfortable little dive bar.

Would return if ever back in town.

Met up here with some good people, based solely on the high reviews of the place.
It was located in an unassuming little strip next to a dentist, and there was an herb garden replete with peppers and hops growing there. A few patio umbrellas out front and a little rail with seating (where everyone was smoking) and a second floor enclosed patio/event space, where we finally landed with our beers.

Service at the bar was friendly, though we didn't ask much about the beer. Had a round that consisted of Jolly Pumpkin Weizen Bam, Lazy Magnolia Saison, and Deschutes Obsidian Stout.

The vibe was fairly minimal and felt European somehow. The green tile backsplash with a German train sign seemed to reinforce that, as well as framed posters upstairs of vintage style beer advertising. Families were holding court playing board games with small children, also bicyclists, hip young people, a generally eclectic mix of folks in the place.

The store side of things was well organized and extensive in selection, probably the best looking store in KC I've been in. Lots of singles and a couple Prairie bottles, which kept me happy.

Overall a fun new concept for the area, it would be cool if they could fill growlers too, but I'm sure that's a little ways off in terms of legislation. Otherwise they seem to be on the cutting edge here.

First let me get the negative out of the way. Parking. Not being from Kansas City, parking seemed to be an issue if the place was to be really crowded.

Service was great, the bartender was very helpful with our food and beer selections. My wife and I both got a few 4 ounce pours which is very helpful so we can try multiple beers without getting sloshed. There was almost 30 beers on tap, with two dedicated taps, one for a sessionable beer and one for a sour ale which I appreciated. I was also able to pick up a few bottles to bring back home, for instance Boulevard Love Child #4.

I visit Kansas City every summer and I have found a spot that I will check out every year.

Stopped in here while in KC for a wedding. Great selection, picked up some Founders Imperial Stout, Prairie Artisan Prairie Ale, Southern Tier Creme Brulee, and a few others. The guy working there was very helpful, and friendly with my kids. He also knew the breweries they were selling well, the times of certain releases, and whether or not they got any "white whale" beers from the area (Prairie Bomb!) which makes a huge difference when you're trying to find specific things. I will definitely stop by again in the future when I have the chance.

Bier station does a great job with their taps and selection, and the owner is often on site pouring drinks and lives in the neighborhood. Very kid-friendly, with board games and an open air bier garden upstairs, and small patio out front. Parking is not great, but lots of street parking available and you can use the lot next door on weekends and after 5 PM.

The service is pretty spotty (John, the owner is by far the best bartender in the place). Food selection is average and really only an option for me if you just need a bite to sober up. The beer selection is the draw, and where they excel. About 30 taps, and they all have real beer with good quality rotating selections. You can drink any bottle in-store, or take it to go. A bit of a markup for opening bottles on site vs. carryout. Overall, highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good beer either locally or for a KC visit.

A cool little bier garten that has a nice tap menu and a decent selection of bottled beers to be consumed on premises or to be taken home. The tap list is usually pretty solid (have seen Cantillon here) and they do a good job of mixing things up with a wide variety of styles.

You will see 2 prices on each bottle/pack in the self serve cooler area. The higher price is for if you wan to consume it there, and the lower price is what you pay if you wan to take it home as though you were shopping at a standard liquor store. Honestly, both prices and tap prices are a little on the high side by KC standards.

The atmosphere is usually pretty mellow. A few tables down stairs and bench seating at the enclosed balcony with a nice view. Alternative music plays at a level where you can still have a conversation, so a good place to chill.

Service is usually pretty good. The owner is a fantastic guy that aims to please.. Staff seems to be well informed on the beer.

Food is certainly the low point. Very average brats at a price that stings a bit. Probably even below average food now that I think about it.

Come here if you are looking for a good tap selection and a chilled atmosphere to talk with friends. Awesome events take place here such as Zwanze Day and Best of the Midwest (including BA Abraxas). Probably the best spot to get great craft beer in KC. Love the small pours too!

Bier Station is a must for the Kansas City beer lovers. We went on a Sunday snow day minutes after they opened, so perhaps didn't get the best evaluation of ambiance since there weren't many people there yet. However, seeing the place slowly fill up over the course of an hour and knowing that there is a rooftop patio, I have no doubt this atmosphere is outstanding on a summer evening.

The beer selection and quality was the best I've experienced in my 2 years in Kansas City, namely, they have a rotating cask ale that provided a phenomenal beer. I was also able to sample a couple new beers and drink well-made beers to my heart's content. I imagine that this place offers about 95% of the legal beers available to Kansas City, MO.

The service is unique in that it is mostly self-service. You go to the bar for any food or drink order, which is great for not having to tip a waiter, but not so great if you don't feel like ambulating a whole lot.

The food is really great. It is a creative and gourmet spin on traditional Bavarian food: varieties of sausage/bratwurst and pretzels, which, when combined with beer, account for my three main food groups. They also have a ton of sauces for pretzels, which is awesome.
