On tap. Nearly black pour, tan head, darker than most schwarz I've had. Roast aromas, almost like some lactose-ish tones. Nice roast malty flavors, earthy, also with a little raisin or fig. Some pine hops to balance. Extreamly smooth mouthfeel. Would be very sessionable. One of the more enjoyable schwarzbiers I've had.

Dark brown in color, almost black, with some ruby hues when held up to the light. Khaki head rises to 2 fingers in height and falls to a tight 1/4". Wet drippy lacing lines the glass.
Aroma is faint but complex. Coffee, plums, and muscadines. Very earthy smelling.
Wonderfull roasted character in the flavor. Unlike most porters and stouts but still roasted. There's some graininess that complements the roasted flavors very well. There's also an earthy hoppiness that kind of mesmerizes the tastebuds. The flavor of this beer is bold, yet smooth. Sophisticated.
It's amazing a beer could be this bold in flavor and still so light in body. With the flavor profile of this beer one would expect an almost syrupy mouthfeel but it's light to medium bodied. This only adds to the sesssionability imo.
Exceptional drinkability. Very tasty yet still light enough in body to put a few back. Enola and myself finished the growler in one sitting and I was left wanting another. Highly recommended if you find yourself at Amos Howards.

Quite dark, basically black with a big old tannish head that sits around for a minute, leaving sticky lacing down the glass. Brown hues when held to the dim lights in the bar. Great scent. Some lightly roasted scents with a delicate sweetness as well. Faint hoppy presence is noticeable. Taste is much more explosive than the smell would lead you to believe. Great combination of roast and sweet flavors, along with an earthy hop flavor. Chocolate, caramel, and an excellent splash of coffee in the form of espresso at times. Mouthfeel is fairly light and silky smooth. Just a touch of bitterness from the hops in the finish that makes it go down even faster. I regret seeing this on the board later in the evening. Guess I should be more observant next time as this may have been the one to stick with for a few pints. A top notch Schwarzbier in my book; and in my experience, the favorite.

This is one of my favorite styles and I love to see it done right. This one does not disappoint.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Faint retention and lacing.

Roast, chocolate nose with some coffee. Tea flavor hits the tongue first, but switches to coffee at the end. Very interesting. Nice roast flavor at the end and mildly bitter.

Very well done!
