A very solid brew that I've had the chance to try a few times now. Pours a deep amber with shades of brown. Pretty dark looking with a creamy white head that leaves solid rings of lacing down the glass. Smell is rich and malty with a good hoppy balance. Caramel and light chocolate notes along with a earthy and lightly citrusy hop presence. Taste is also great. Same great balance as featured in the smell. Not quite as bitter as your typical American version, so well done there. Just a bit more full than I'd expect, though, for an English style. Really not bitter initially either, more toward the finish with a light drying end. Quite the easy drinker in my book. I enjoy this one more than their standard IPA. If you're in the area, try it.
