On tap at The Tap in Bloomington

Pours somewhat murky orange with a few reddish hues. Nice 2 finger off-white head with decent lacing and retention.

Classic American hop presence in the aroma. Some citrusy fruit with pine and a little floral essence.

Very well balanced flavor. Crisp citrus up front, but there is a strong bready malt backbone that is not as evident in the nose. Finishes with a bit of grapefruit and pine, but not overly bitter. My girlfriend who hates most IPA's even enjoyed the balance on this one.

Creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Solid beer from a new brewer who appears to be doing things right so far. It was advertised as a West Coast IPA which I wouldn't necessarily agree with since it had more malt than is typical of that sub-genre. What it is though is a extremely well balanced smooth IPA and a superb beer for a brand new brewery.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a respectable head; plenty of lacing is left behind

Smell: For what is advertised as a West Coast IPA, I am picking up a lot of malt in the aroma; nice balance between the bready malt and the citrus/pine

Taste: Opens bready, with the pine asserting itself in the middle; after the swallow, some citrus sneaks into the profile, but the pine is dominant

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A nicely balanced IPA, not really of the West Coast variety, but a good everyday drinker

Thanks, fredmugs, for the opportunity

A - Dark golden, slightly cloudy, with a near white head that fades quickly, leaving lacing.

S - Pine and citrus, this is a very clean, crisp smelling IPA. A few floral notes, and slight vegetal hint.

T - Citrus out front, mostly grapefruit and orange, with pine. Balancing against this is a sweet caramel malt line, but this fades to a very bitter finish, with considerable drying.

M - The bitterness is strong, and while the carbonation is substantial, the oils build on the tongue.

O - The bitterness is expected given the nature of the brew, but it is important to understand, while this comes from suburban Indianapolis, it is an aggressive West Coast IPA. It hammers home a delicious pine and fruit combo that I enjoyed, but it will leave you will a palate needing a bit of a rest to clear.

Pours from the pint can a cloudy, murky amber, with attractive head of off-white foam. Lace is spotty.

Nose is nice tropical hops -- I get pineapple, citrus, mango...very very nice!

Taste is brisk and bitter up front, and noticeably carbonated heavily. I get sour grapefruit most prominently here. Lift Off is a refreshing IPA with a light, drinkable body (despite the heavy 7.2% ABV). Definitely a solid and well-done IPA -- not a game changer, but solid.

I've had this gem plenty of times, on tap, canned, and cask. I'm rating based off of tap, as that is how this beer is served at its best.

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a finger of foamy white head. Leaves some lacing throughout the glass.
S: An incredible balance of citrus and pine. There is not a clear front runner in aroma. If you're thinking pine, you get pine. If you're thinking citrus, you get citrus.
T: Similar to aroma, a very well balanced blend of citrus and pine. More notably I get orange and grapefruit up front, with pine as the lingering after taste. Quite bitter, as expected as advertised as west coast style IPA.
M: Carbed to compliment. Feels great.
O: One of my favorite Indiana IPAs. I was a huge fan of Daredevil the first time I had this beer, and have been enjoying all of their offerings ever since. Lift Off is an extremely well balanced beer. Since they started canning, I've consistently had it available. Maybe I'll be able to snag a 6th barrel for my keezer soon :)

No freshness date.

Hazy orange with a finger of foam on top, dripping with soapy lacing around the edges.

Citrus peel and pale malt in the aroma, fairly aromatic.

Orangey citrus sweetness, piney hop bitterness, light pale malt in the middle and some lingering bitterness of green botanicals in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, smooth feel. Pretty classic and easy drinking. Would pick this up again if I saw it.

Thanks to Howard for this one!
