For obvious reasons this is a cool pub, the food is pretty good. The beer is excellent, especially if you like Olde Hickory, but the thing that stood out to me in this oasis in a desert of good liquor bars in the area was the vast spirits selection. They had a huge whiskey selection. I would estimate that they have near or maybe over 100 different bottles of whiskey. They also have a very good selection of other liquor and liqueurs as well. But being a bourbon fan this was heaven. I wish I had more time and a driver because I would have been a happy camper leaving this place. Alas, I had to drive so I stuck to the beer, which is great. I love Olde Hickory's beer anyway.

My girlfriend and I love this place. Wonderful beer (as I've come to expect from Olde Hickory) and wonderful food. My only complaint is the size of the bar area which makes it a little cramped on busier nights. Overall, though, definitely a place to go when in Hickory.

I enjoy this place any day of the week but especially love the Sunday Brunch they have. I get the Eggs Benedict along with a beer or three. At that time of the day, the atmosphere overall is a bit more relaxed and easygoing. I do miss this place as I have moved to TN but plan on going back to it just for Brunch. I highly recommend this establishment and I look forward to going back myself.

The beer selection and choices were outstanding at Olde Hickory Tap Room. I enjoyed a high gravity stout and an IPA. They have a massive restaurant that fills up completely making it loud and uncomfortable. I enjoyed the beer, but I think I'd rather take it to go. I went to Olde Hickory to try out the beer and food, but the food being served around me didn't look especially appetizing. I didn't try any food, so I cannot say that it didn't taste bad. It just looked like the usual pub food that you can get anywhere, nothing special. I'd like to try more of their beer, but am leery about returning on a weekend. This seems to be the main place everyone goes in Hickory.

This was a regular for me during college and it stuck. Anytime I'm in Hickory, I try to make time for the Tap Room. This place has it all: Great food, Excellent beer selection, Pub decor/atmosphere... There really isn't any more that one could ask for.

First time out, and am already contemplating mug club since I may stop in monthly on my travels between Greenville, SC, and Charlotte. Fish and chips were awesome with 2 large, whole filets battered and fried to perfection and pub chips that added the right salty crunch. Board was full of great selections although staff needed a little more knowledge to recommend home-turf brews. Great attention, great attitude, just a little more education on beer styles will take it to a whole other level. Now to the good stuff. Started evening with Orion Saison. Nice fruity, esther-filled effort. Not quite the spiciness I would expect. Moved into an upward spiral of hops starting with Table Rock Pale Ale moving to Black Raven IPA then soaring to Death By Hops (7 big juicy hops!) and ending with a final call to the Redeemer. Introduced a couple of friends to the wonderful world of flavorful beer and enjoyed seeing a sleepy little Southern town appreciating a gem of the Piedmont in Olde Hickory Taproom.

this was one of the coolest places i've been in a long time. i really enjoyed how their bar was laid out. totally taken aback by the amazing liquor selection at this beer centered establishment. got the chicken fried chicken and thought it was the perfect amount of food. actually hung out and go a tour of the brewery from Steven, one of the owners earlier in the day and he met us for dinner. very nice place that had a great friendly vibe, awesome beer selection and good food. would recommend to others.

On our way back from the Asheville area last week, this place was a must-stop. Came here for dinner with the family. The establishment sits in a cool little area filled with coffee shops, wine bars, and art studios. Neat little area to walk. The place was pretty dark inside, and the interior didn't flow really well. It was like there were 2 rooms. We were place on the non-bar side. Tap handles completely cover the walls. Service was decent. Waitress was prompt and efficient. The beer selection was really good, as expected. Most all of the OHB brews were available, even some of the special releases. They had a smattering of offerings from other local breweries as well, which was nice. But I was here solely for some fresh OHB. The food was fantastic! I got a burger and my wife got a pizza, and both were excellent. This place will become a regular stop on my way down the 40. Recommend.

A- One of the best bars I've ever been to. Admittedly, I've been going there since '98 so it does have a home-y feel that no other place has a chance of replicating. Nice long bar with high tops and booths, mostly 4 person, but up to 8 in the larger ones. The "bar" side is seperated from the "food" side by a wall which keeps the noise down for folks who just want to eat, which is nice. Pretty consistently decent bands play thursdays and saturdays. Jazz on sundays if your down for that.

Q- Great

S- I know all of the managers upstairs and downstairs and most of the servers, so it's pretty great for me. Most people I know don't ever complain.

S2- 20 taps, mostly OHB with a few rotating guest beers. Bombers and mini-kegs available to-go. 600+ bottles of spirits. I've never seen any place close to that. Tons of great scotches in there.

F- Great pub food. I go with the pubburger, fish and chips, brutus caesar salad, BLT, big bird, or rachel.

V- Reasonable as heck.

I finally made it to the Olde Hickory taphouse. I'd been wanting to try more of their beers ever since the first Olde Rabbit's Foot release. They have about 8 house beers on tap, along with another 8-10 other micros. Most of them were easy to find in bottles in NC, like Hickory Stout, Death By Hops, their pilsner, etc etc. They also had a barleywine which was a one-off, I get the feeling they often have special beers.

Tons of seating on both sides (bar side and restaurant side). It was a little noisy on the bar side, mainly from the crowd, but it got quieter as the place emptied a little. Prompt and friendly service (I've never had bad service anywhere in North Carolina, maybe just lucky). I was very happy with the visit, I'll stop here again if in the area.

I stopped in to pick up some Olde Hickory while passing through town.

The taproom has a pub feel but with a family friendly atmosphere. It's got dark woods and low lighting with a long bar and plenty of tables. There's a huge collection of metal mugs over the bar which I assume is for a member program.

The beer selection included several from Olde Hickory along with plenty of others from the US and Europe. They also sell bottles of Olde Hickory to take home.

The Olde Hickory Taproom is a nice restaurant pub, in a historic downtown setting with a solid selection of beer. There's not much more I could ask for.

I like this place the food is great. They have a great section of beer & samples of the the local Brewery. One of Hickory's best travern's and there's not many in our area. The wait staff are friendly and know a lot about the local brews. it's between a rock and a hard place to find if your not from the area, but wotrh the trip. so give this place a try if your in our area. They have live music jazz on Sunday nights at 7 pm.Not been on that night but have heard good stuff about it.Have eatten some of there different items like the pub chips & my my favorite is the homemade chicken salad,my wife likes the Black Bean Burger's.

Made a point to stop in the Olde Hickory Taproom while spending 3 days fishing on Lake Hickory.

A: Located in the Old Town area of Hickory on a block with some trendy looking restaurants. Nice area overall. Entering the Taproom, the restaurant is on the right and the bar is seperated by a wall and is on the left. Nice long bar adorns the left hand side of the room. Booths line the wall with random tables between the bar and the booths. Decor is brewerania. Tap handles, beers signs, etc.. Above the bar hangs pewter mugs for the local mug club members. So far so good.

Q: The quality of the food and drink was pretty good. Granted I only ordered a sandwich, smoked turkey on sourdough with a side salad, but it was fine nothing to write home about. Nice selection of house and guest taps. About 10 house beer and 10 guest taps. The stand outs as far as the house beers are the Table Rock Pale Ale, one of the better pale ales I've had in a while and the Hickory Stick Stout. Both very well done. Also had a pedestrian ESB and something called a Poor Richard, which the bar said, "its stronger than the ESB" when asked what style of beer it is. WTF? Anyway, its seemed like a brown porter with molasses. Interesting beer.

S: Somewhat lacking in the service dept. Bartender seemed disinterested and didn't care about talking about the beers on hand, see comment above. Also seemed annoyed when asked for samples of beers before buying.

F: Decent food for what I ordered. Heard mixed reviews on the food from others.

Overall: Definitely worth a stop if in the Hickory area. Well done house beers with a decent selection of guest taps, though I wish more NC beers were represented.

Visited here after the 09 Hickory Hops. We were planning on going here before the festival, but their booth at the festival sinched it for me. The have some excellent creative offerings. Barrel aged Schwarz and Irish red were two I had not seen done before and the barrel aged barlewine was also excellent. They had 18 crafts on tap, with a Guiness and something else larger. I assumed that the Old Hickory Brewery did all these, but maybe I'm mistaken. The food menu looks like it has taken a step up from the previous reviews. Ahi tuna steak and jerk chicken sandwich were very good. Burger was a burger, but fine. Pub chips with the pub cheese was the best however. Would visit again if in Hickory. Not quite sure what to make of Hickory...probably will not return unless I go to the next Hickory Hops or am in need of some furniture.
