500ml bottle from the Systembologet the day before. Poured into a hotel water glass.

A: an apple cider golden-with-brown-tint. Foams a bit (not bad for the small water tumbler...)

S: "American" comes to mind due to the hop aroma

T: not much going on. Some light honey up front, then immediately a coarse, citrusy hop flavor. After taste is bitter, and maybe there's some dried apricot as the taste fades.

M: Dry, astringent.

p.s. original tasting notes jotted on a page torn from a hotel bible. Kind of ironic. I wonder if they serve Hell in hell...

Deep gold colour, little lasting head. Quite hoppy for pilsener, but who cares, it tastes good, it isn't a bad thing. Like a few of their lower abv beers, this is light in body, yet full of flavour, decently bitter finish, quite satisfying, slightly sticky, but its bloody tasty, maybe lacks a bit of balance, but its only a minor complaint of mine.

Thanks to 2nd annual trade with Madsberg in Europe. While it smells lagerish, it is a cloudy yellowish with a thin retainng crown head. Smooth and very drying taste. Hop is there,it's acidic and clear as is malt, and they are entwined together uniquely.

A huge thanks to Anders for the extras in our trade!

Enjoying this in a 22 oz. Spaten mug. There was a generous head when poured, plenty of carbonation rising quickly through the golden straw colored liquid. After a few minutes, there is a sticky ring at the edge with very little lacing. Smell is lightly bready with some earthy hop traces.

Light but firm hop bitterness comes through in the flavor, making this Helles unique. Light bodied and crisp, crackery, finishing dry and bitter. Traces of honey flavor, but not sweet. Bit of an effervescent lager feel. The dry bitterness is really what sets it apart, with a clean and fairly simple composition.

Very enjoyable on an unseasonably warm 70º November day in Chicago.

A nice burnished copper color on the pour, the head is modest in size and the texture frothy with the lace nice sheets to cover the glass. Sweet malt nose, caramel and hints of the hop flower also present, start is quite sweet, the top middling in feel and a very pleasant beer.

It finishes with a purposeful acidic bite, and a real surprise to me is the hops which are quite spicy in their bite also the aftertaste which is very long lasting and dry as a bone. One classic example of a style I find or sample rarely.

Dark gold, honest sticky white head though diminishing. Woh! There’s quite an aroma on this Helles! generous honeyish malt is gently covered by fragrant cascade hops. Admirable cookie character, mild grapefruit. Bold, yet smooth. This is what I’d like more brewers to try with C-hops, they can make very interesting and pleasant beers when used not as the only focus. Jamtlands Hell for one is extremely balanced, quenchable. This hoppiness adds some fire to it. Finish is salty, woody. Incredibly smooth body, very soft carbonation, full bodied. This is art.

Jämtlands Bryggeri is one of my favourite breweries. They don't have any "super-amazing-high-ABV-beer", but they have many that are really, really good.

And of course, Hell is surely one of them. Pretty funny beer though, feels like someone says, like a mix of german pilsner and american hops.

Amber colour with a nice, pretty long lasting white head.

Smells pretty normal, good, but not amazing. Some american "ascade-ish tones though.

Tastes really fantastic, perfect balance between hops and malts. Some cascade-ish tones in the taste too. You can have a few of these in one evening.

The beer is clear dark golden, with a white head that leaves some lacing.

The smell is mostly citric, fresh lemons, lime and a dash of sweet oranges.

Upfront a caramel sweetness and digestive biscuits from the malt, then a bitter sourness like lemon curd marmalade. The bitterness stays around nicely.

Medium carbonation, soft and refreshing going over to a long dryness.

This is really a lager to my liking, god hops giving lots of taste and yet refreshing.

This was a bottle a Swedish friend of mine brought back with him. At first I thought it might have been a Helles Bock or something, judging by the title. Anyhow...

Off to a bad start when I noticed the face label was on crooked. Plus, the label design is a bit amateurish. This is a good brewery, they could have done better. But, hey, I'm not drinking the label!

It poured a pale straw color with slight haze. I'm not sure if it was chill haze, but since lagers are generally served at around 45 deg, there shouldn't be any haze.

Not much aroma, though there did seem to be a slight wiff of noble-y hops over a nice malt aromatic.

Prevalent malt sweetness, not overpowering, but quite noticeable. The hop bitterness kicks in abruptly at the finish, while the sweetness slowly tapers off. Pleasant aftertaste. Despite it's unconventional flavor profile (seems more like an ale), it is definitely inviting. Quite quaffable and refreshing.

A: Rather thick foam (two fingers) that dissipates quickly and leaves a thin layer at the surface. Very small foam rests. Color is golden pale.

S: Fresh, flowery, some fruity notes, malty, hints of iron.

T: Some citrus, malt, a fresh note of cocoa, subtle and well rounded bitterness. Very refreshing with clean dryness in the aftertaste.

M: Carbonation is rather low and the liquid is a little bit thin and watery. Still, it's really drinkable and refreshing.

A good beer, although I miss some bitterness. Probably one of the best Swedish lagers.

Light amber colour with a relatively thick off white head.

The Hell has a hoppy, flowery smell with citrus fruits.

Sour, hops-dominated taste, which is brought forth by a soft carbonation that politely keeps itself in the background.

Mouthfeel is smooth and the beer is actually relatively well balanced despite what initially feels like a major tilt towards the hop side of things.

"Hell" is an odd beer: The malt and yeast are all München Helles style, but the hops are more like the ones you normally find in American ale.

The colour is yellow; the finger thick head is white. Fine lacing.

A rather mild smell of sourish hops with spicy hints, a fine sweetness from the malts.

The first taste is a bread-like sweet flavour of malt. It evolves into a very hoppy flavour: Some earthy notes, a hint of alcohol. The bitterness is robust with lots of spicy flavours and quite neutral citric notes. Medium body. The long lasting aftertaste is bitter/hoppy with hints of herbs and butter.

The carbonation is medium to strong, the liquid smooth.

The beer was poured in a glass from the bottle. The beer does not carbonate at all. There is hardly any foam. The beer has just no smell, or maybe very little. The taste is very water like, with just a very little hint of bitterness. Overall a bad bear, nothing special

Had a glass of this at Akkurat bar in Stockholm. Served with a big, frothy, foamy, almost creamy off-white head and good lace. Color was that of polished brass. Aroma was malty, hoppy, and a hint of sulphur. Real nice flavor. Sulphur disappeared right away. Great balance between bitter and sweet and hop/malt. A tad salty. Good body and carbonation. Great for quaffing. Good bitter sweet finish.

A: This beer pours hazy golden with a nice white head that sadly dies a little to fast leaving some lacings.

S: Sweet malt mixed with some citric notes together with floral hops (I'm guessing cascade).

T: First some sweetness from the malt, but before you can finish that tought the hops kicks in like a punch in the mouth. Floral hops as well as some bitter ones (my guess from the smell - Cascade is more present here). Some citric notes.

M: The longlasting aftertaste is dry and bitter in this mediumbodied beer that has nice carbonation.

D: This is a great beer if you're into hops. I will buy it again.
