look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: dark reddish-brown, like a porter, good clarity, great head retention (tan and two-finger), nice lacing on the glass

Aroma: a big nose of grapefruity hops, roasty graininess, molasses, some sweetness

Flavor: dark/roasted malt acidity is quite aggressive (yet, pleasing), some malty sweetness rounds out the flavor, rich hop flavor and a gripping bitterness in the finish both from hops and dark malts, rather dry

Mouthfeel: medium-body, crisp carbonation, definite astringency felt on teeth, warms the throat a bit on the way down, quite refreshing despite itself

Drinkability: it's a bit more aggressive in the roast flavor and hop bitterness than a schwarzebier should be (if that is indeed the category it should be in), but a great beer nonetheless. (777 characters)

Very nice brew. Quite dark deep pretty much black colour. Burnt coffe nose and also quite a hoppy aroma aswell. Very ashtray, charcoal, burnt coffee flavour, pretty good stuff, also had some nice bitter hops in the finish, flavours blended together well, relatively full-bodied, and full-flavoured. (298 characters)

A very good Shwartz, thanks to Abusmaster. With roasted graininess and feathery creaminess, and a moderate malty aroma and good laciness. Brown with white head.Secondary chocolate and coffee/postum. A great session at 5%. Smooth drinking. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Good understated bitter finish, with citrus. (308 characters)

Pours a very, very dark beer with a lightly brown foam.

Smell is roasted, "dark" with some fruity sweetness to it, maybe some raisans or plums.

Taste is very, very bitter :) A veru big, delicious taste with just a bit sweetness. There is a long and bitter aftertaste and aonstantly fruity traces of plums etc.

A very good beer if you like this style. Although i think its a bit to filling, but thats maybe just me. (423 characters)

The liquid is clear; the colour is very deep wine red. The compact, finger-thick foam is beige and firm.

The smell is dominated by a fruity flavour of cascade hops, but there are also notes of burned malt, toffee and diacetyl.

The carbonation is fresh with small bubbles.

The taste is rather complex with notes of burned malt and a solid bitterness and a fruity body. The finish is balanced with notes of black coffee and a fine fruity sweetness.

I like! (467 characters)

Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, Sweden. Rudy brown colored beer with a small creamy head that doesn't last well. Nothing to speak of in the dull nose. Faint smells. Flavor is not flawed, but again very dull and doesn't provide much to describe. Little mouthfeel. A barely drinkable beer. (288 characters)
