Pours a hazy golden straw color with decent lacy white head. Aroma is slightly rustic, earthy with lemons, a bit catty at the edges. Very classic saison yeast strand characteristics in the nose with a bit of american hop citrus.

Crisp bite up front, good hop bittering. Very dry. Earthy lemon flavor dominates, more of that classic Dupont yeast flavor. Then in the aftertaste a good dose of juicy citrus american hop flavor, a bit of sweetness mixes well with the hop juice. Finishes dry and bitter at the end, lingering saison yeast esters mixed with a bit more lingering citrus hop character.

The citrusy hops mixed very well with the classic saison style. This is a very well done version of a classic saison with something extra that adds to the character and flavor profile.

Poured from 25 oz. bottle into pint glass

A - The body is a pale straw color with a white head of medium thickness.

S - Banana, clove, black pepper, orange, and graden herbs all mingle to desirable effect.

T - A super-fresh tasting beer with a sizable hop presence for the style! The hops bring orange, peach, and even berry flavors to the tongue. Then spicy yeast esters dance over the cracker-like malt. The finish is fairly dry and bitter with lingering spice and a hint of alcohol.

M - The mouthfeel is just a hair over medium-bodied.

O - A very tasty beer. The Amarillo hops bring a pleasant fruity element to the Saison. Worth checking out.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Very light hazy yellow. Medium white head that doesn't last, but retains a few surface wisps.

Smell - Grassy and herbal hoppy aroma. Kinda yeasty and some pale malt.

Taste - Again, grassy and herbal. Much stronger pale malt. Yeastiness is intense here and kinda overwhelms. Bitter yeasty finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium heavy and pretty malty. Kinda bitter and medium carbonation.

Overall - This doesn't work so well. The pale malt and yeast are a little intense.

pours a hazy orange that clears up a bit,

some piney notes but overall not very strong

I enjoy Saisons very much and this is an interesting mix. The first sip definitely has that saison yeast thing, give it a second and the hops aren't to far behind. not the norm but enjoyed it!

mouth feel is nice, carbonation is decent and flavor/taste hangs around, some resin towards the end.

overall I quite enjoyed this brew and will definitely be consuming it again...

sorry for the short review... Cheers!

Review from notes dated 8/2/14

Cheers to Bilco for sharing this

A: Solid, honey gold with some yellow - pours with a medium-sized, off-white head, fades to a few wisps, leaves some lacing

S: Yup, that's a saison - very yeasty, with some spice, cloves, and grass - some citrus notes as well - light farmhouse funk, with some tartness - some pale malts, sweetness

T: Some nice saison flavors, but the notion of a "super" saison may be a bit much - earthy tartness, with a lot of sweetness - banana, clove, spice, and some yeasty flavors - pale malts and some wheat - too sweet, and booze is oddly noticable

M: Medium body, nicely carbonated, finishes a little wet

O: Well that's just super

There is nothing wrong with this take on a saison; it's just not what I am personally looking for in the style. It's a bit too sweet, a bit too boozy, and not as dry as I like my saisons.

A-Cloudy orange, highly carbonated, two finger head that leaves nice lacing.

S-Wheat, some spice and a good deal of hops.

T-Starts with wheat, some orange, a little bit of grass and rather hoppy for the style. Some bitterness.

M-Medium bodied, nice carbonation.

O-The balance wasn't there for a saison, the hops were a tad too much.

The beer pours a nice creamy white head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a hazy orange-gold color with some hints of yellow. The beer smell has a strong musty and bready smell. The hop notes are buried deep beneath the spice and clove notes, and have a variety of notes that range from orange to citrus with a bit of a grassy tinge to it. The taste is similar to the smell but stronger. The few differences are that the orange notes are much stronger than the smell as is the grass. The mustyness is also a bit weaker than the spices and cloves. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but on the heavier side. The feel is surprising smooth despite the biting carbonation. The mouth is left a little dry but not very much. Overall, as always, another fantastic brew from Trillium. The beer is pretty well balanced such that you get most if not all of the notes.

Picked up a bottle of this a few weeks back. Very solid saison. Good amount of funk which I always like in the style. Pretty boozy for a saison, but they mask it well.

Golden color and crystal clear. Small head that settles no bubbles. No lace.

Good Belgian yeast presence with floral pale malt nose.

Starts slightl sweet with a strong sage-like swallow. Short aftertaste of light hop and warming alcohol. Very low carbonation. Average body.

Appearance: Slightly hazed bright yellow gold. Starts with a large clumpy bright-white head. Drops to a small collar and wispy cap in relatively short order. Minimal lacing. Moderate carbonation on the pour.

Smell: a ton of saison yeast. Esters abound. Banana candy and clove - it's minimal. Some solid bubblegum as well. A moderate pale malt sweetness adds a bit of balance to the heavy yeast presence. Some bready elements with a solid floral push as well. Juicy fruity, a touch of peach with some earthy hops. A touch of wheat thrown in. Mild hints of hay and grass.

Taste: Juicy fruit right up front. Peach, pear, and apple. A touch of tangerine with a punch of yeast. Clove is a bit heavier than the nose would indicate. Solid ripe banana and a pinch of bubblegum. Pale malt base adds some biscuity elements with a mild sweetness. Bubblegum builds as it warms and takes over a bit. Some grassy and herbal elements as well. A touch of hay and grass. A touch of citrus with a creeping pithy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Light side of medium body with a moderate carbonation. A touch dry on the finish after an initial juicy sip.

Overall: Bulbasaur used Sunshower, it's not very effective.

A good but not thrilling saison. Slightly over sweet and the yeast almost hits stronger on a Belgian style than a saison. Still good, but not quite on par.

Bottled 07/28/14 (6 days ago)

A: Pours a clear gold with an enormous frothy and effervescent off-white head. Great head retention. Huge quantity of little specks of lacing everywhere.

S: Spicy. Lots of black pepper and some pine. Light grapefruit. Lightly grassy and a slight bit of crackery malt.

T: Flowery up front. Spicy kick immediately afterwards with some spicy pine and then lots of black pepper. Cracker malt in the finish with a big grassy kick. Light grass and black pepper lingers.

M: Medium bodied, somewhat sticky for a saison.

O: Not a bad saison. Amarillo dry hop adds a nice little american-style flair without putting it over the top.

A pretty orange color....love the look of this one. A light, fresh scent. Tastes heavily of clove. Low bitterness. Seems light and drinkable for an 8.5 ABV. A solid beer. Thought not my favorite style.

A-Pours golden yellow with a tall, frothy head. Head is bright white.

S-I get lots of Saison yeast character as well as a potent pop of grassy hops. Yeast is spicy and there is a grainy element as well.

T-Hopped with Amarillo apparently; this brew delivers some serious hoppiness on the palate. Pine, grass and some grapefruit. A little clovey and spicy. Dried, pale malt flavor. Not much sweetness.

M-Really impressed after learning this beer's ABV. 8.5% coming in like 5.5%. Dry, good bitterness. Medium bodied. Up lighting bubbles.

O-Super Saison is an apt description. It's one of the few Saison's I have enjoyed at this high of an alcohol level. Usually, I feel like this style of beer tends to fall apart anywhere close to 8%. This one bucks the trend.

From 07/21/14 notes. Big thanks to jslot38 for sending me a bottle of this; thanks Justin! 22 oz. bottle poured into a tulip, side by side with Trillium.

a - Pours a somewhat hazy bright yellow color, with two inches of bright white head and low to moderate carbonation. Looks nice.

s - Smells of citrus hops, honey, oranges, citrus hops, wheat, yeast, grains, pine hops, light fruity malts, and light spice. Nice nose, lots going on and lots of citrus.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, oranges, tangerines, honey, pine hops, sweet floral notes, fruity malts, wheat, grains, and yeast. Follows the nose, little more fruit. Very nice.

m - Medium body and low carbonation. Super smooth and very easy to drink. Could have taken down a whole bottle.

o - Overall I thought this was reall good, and I liked it better than the normal Trillium saison. Lots of citrus and super easy to drink, with some nice pine in the back as well. Very good, would love to have it again.

Tastes like an extra boozy saison. Carb and mouthfeel are excellent and to style. If you like banana and flowery Belgian esters and need to get a buzz faster than normal, this is the perfect beer for you.

32 oz Bomber > Pint Glass

A - Pours a nice hazed gold yellow color, just under a finger of white fizzy head, medium lacing.
S - Some of that belgian funk, some spice, clove, a little mint some fresh citrus and a little floral grassy traits
T - Good mix of hoppy traits to a belgian saison, some clove and other peppery spices, light pine, some citrus, a little light pale malt.
M - Crisp and clean, somewhat fresh, a little tart.
O - Great hoppy saison, recommended by brewer zach, and a good recommendation indeed, refreshing, and you do not feel the 8.5% at all, impressive. Also stoked to be the second ever review on this.
