The beer pours some nice white and foamy head but dissipates quickly and is hard to get a decent head going. The beer itself is a hazy orangish yellow color that looks very nice. The beer smell is fantastic. Notes of grapefruit and lemon zest and a bit of pine to even out the transition between the two. The notes also have an interesting creamy smell. Slight hints of pepper but mainly hop notes dominating the nose. The beer taste is similar to the smell. The main notes are the lemon and grapefruit with the pine showing up in the aftertaste. Unlike the smell, the taste a malty sweetness to balance out the hops a little bit. The carbonation is fairly light and the feel is incredibly light and smooth for a DIPA. Overall, a fantastic and unique DIPA. While some are heavy, this is comparatively light. Furthermore, even though it resembles their Fort Point, I would say this drinks easier.

Got a squealer refilled from the brewery just a few days ago...

A - Very nice amber color with a thin head that dissipates quite quickly to a soapy top. Nice lacing on the glass after the first sips, but nothing too complex.

S - Amazing, full bodied aroma. The hops give way to a nice fruit, apricot flavor. There's a thickness, too, that reminds me of chocolate. Sounds crazy, but that's what came to mind.

T - No wonder there was such a long line to get this one filled - packs a great punch with the slightest sip. An initial crispness paves the way for a broad, hoppy flavor. This is a taste that lingers long afterward...

M - The first sip is as powerful as the last... goes to show that the 'staying power' of Mettle on your tastebuds is very impressive. That said, it might hang around too long... leading to a lousy after taste, but don't let it get to that. Have more Mettle.

O - One of the finest beers, if not the finest beer I've tasted from Trillium. Keep it up!

Filled a few days ago at the brewery...

A - Pours a beautiful bright yellow with a frothy white head and amazing lace retention throughout consumption

S - Tropical fruits but mainly lemons, grass and some pepper

T - Very tropical yet again; grapefruit, oranges, peach, lemon lime, dank hops. Very creamy with the lightest of bite at the finish. Wonderful

M - Medium body, soft and supple, smooth with a slight pine bite off the palate

O - This is a home run. Would go neck and neck with any world class DIPA out there. Wonderful soft, fruitful taste with a great aroma. This is absolutely killer and we can only only hope its a regular addition to their lineup
