Freshly tapped growler poured into an antique Pilsner glass

Two finger frothy white foam cap. Amazing lacings. Hazy yellow with faint carbonation

Aroma of pine & citrus , orange

Pine notes on the tip of the tongue and in the middle. Nice hop flavoring but withoutt the bitterness.

No sudsing, almost creamy. Pine hops linger on the middle of the tongue bit without the bitterness.

Stopped by Trillium and loaded up with a bunch of different beers. Went with ratings from BA and first up was Melcher Street. Love it, delicious beer . Repeating this one

A-Pours a mildly hazed orange. More chill haze than anything else. The head birthed from the pour is thin but dense and slightly frothy. It leaves sticky lacing.

S-Pretty spectacular aroma. I initially get a bunch of fruity, exotic hop-notes along with a noticeable green onion aspect. Mango, marijuana, garlic, melons. The hoppiness hits all ends of the spectrum but they seem to balance out well.

T-The specifics of the nose are all present yet they melt into one another. Quite a hop concoction. It has a very earthy flavor that I think began with that green onion/garlic portion I found in the nose, I love it. The fruity hoppiness is brimming with guava, mango, melon and papaya...yes, that's specific but these flavors are quite exotic and very concentrated. Citrus and grass as well.

M-Has plenty of body to it. Hop resins are present. Just a tickle of alcohol. Softer carbonation but that may be from the pouring median. Modest bitterness; it's clearly bitter but not excessive.

O-Ho Hum, another Trillium offering that tastes like it was consumed from the cupped hands of Zeus. Love grabbing growlers from these boys; the beer is always delicious and the employees are cool beans.

The beer pours a nice bubbly and creamy head that dissipates somewhat quickly but still leaves a lot of lacing and leaves a film on the top of the beer. The beer itself is a clear orange but with some chill haze that is still see through. The beer color also appears to have slight brown notes. The beer smell is nothing short of divine. The hop notes consist of sweet orange with a bit of grapefruit and mango. Surprisingly, there also appears to be a slight green onion note. The beer taste is similar to the smell but with stronger green onion note and a much stronger grapefruit note. The sweet orange and mango notes are still there but more subdued. There also appears to be a pine resin note in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and a very smooth feel. The taste is bitter but not too much. Overall, the beer is another fine addition from Trillium and worth getting at least once.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a tulip. This was bottled today.

Appearance: Pours a pretty hazy yellowish amber and leaves a couple fingers of fluffy white head that slowly fade to a white layer atop the beer, and plenty of lacing. (4.75)

Smell: Big juicy citrus, some light earthy aromas and pine, light honey. The citrus is wonderful in here. (4.75)

Taste: Big spruce/pine comes out first, along with some pleasant earthy and big bursts of grapefruit, pineapple and more citrus. Supremely smooth and drinkable. Just wonderful. No flaws. (5)

Mouth-feel: Medium body and creamy with medium carb. Great feel, just a little bitter, but it makes this even better. (4.75)

Overall: Possibly the best IPA I've had, and I've had almost all of Trillium's stuff. So drinkable with fantastic citrus and pine flavors throughout. I could drink this every day. (5)

Pours that beautiful hazy golden orange with a thick white head. The head subsides nicely leaving a ton of lacing. Smell is on point with pineapple, mango, citrus, pine, and that standard Trillium pale ale yeast. The taste matches the aroma with a pit more of the piny/resinous character leading the pack. Finishes with a ton of citrus rind and light resin. The overall feel is nice. A bit dry.

Overall this is just another solid offering from my friends to the south.

The beer pours a nice golden, orange hue with a white foam head. Nose is pure mosaic; tropical, floral and some earthy tones. Taste follows suit with a light white wine presence, almost Nelson like. Good mouthfeel with a bit less carbonation than I was expecting. While FPPA and C St are above this IMO, this is still a solid beer that I wouldn't mind seeing in the regular lineup.

Another great hazy, bright orange gold trillium offering. Stinkier hop aroma from this one - orange, pineapple. Crisp grapefruit and a biscuity malt.

Incredibly smooth and balanced - very little bitterness, creamy feel. A 750 is no problem to put down in a short amount of time.

A: Hazy, light pineapple yellow in color with a thin, white lacing and minimal head.
S: Melon, pineapple, pine and seems to smell pretty hoppy.
T: Similar to nose, very strong notes of pine with some hoppy bitterness and mild citrus like sweetness.
M: Slight bitterness, hops prickly to the tongue with a nice dry finish.
O: Excellent IPA!!

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy orange body. Medium white head. Nice lacing.

Smell - Herbal and piney. Like a really herbal Nelson hop. Sweet pale malts and some pilsner malts.

Taste - Pine, grassy hops. Grapefruit. Tastes like nelson here, too. Pretty sweet. Strong pilsner malt flavor.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Good, but a bit of a disappointment compared to other Trillium stuff.

Another amazing trillium ipa.

A: Slightly cloudy light amber with decent lacing and very nice white head
S: Tons of citrus on the nose with some floral backing.
T: Not my favorite from trillium but still a top notch ipa. Follows the nose but is missing that "dank" taste the other trillium brews have. But an easy drinker and still delicious
F: Still the awesome trillium mouth feel with that almost creamy feeling

750ml bottle with a 050215 sticker on it (assuming bottling date) poured into a Duvel tulip.

L - Pours a pale orangey golden color, almost grapefruit juice-like in appearance. A big two finger cap of fluffy white head lingers forever, eventually leaving lots of lacing on the glass.

S - Very citrusy and grassy up front - lots of oranges and grapefruit, touch of limes, faintly sweet..very juicy.

T - Grapefruit is front and center, mix of other citrus - mostly oranges but a bit lemony too. Medium hop bitterness. Mild malt presence - sugary sweet and lightly grainy.

F - Medium body with a creamy mid-level carbonation. A bit sticky in feel and loaded with hop flavors and a lingering dry-ish hop bitterness. Grassy on the exhale after each sip. The 7.3% alcohol is hidden very well.

O - Hard to find fault in this one. Excellent IPA all around. Right up there with the best IPA's in my memory.

Drank from a 25.4 fl oz (750 ml) bottle purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
Bottled 121014
Served in a pint glass

The hazy, yellow ochre liquid was topped by a frothy, foamy, two finger tall, eggshell colored crown. Clumps of bubbly, sudsy looking lacing trickled along the glass and stuck around long after the beer was finished.

The aroma was simply amazing. Super punchy and bright. Tropical fruits dominated. Mango, papaya and guava were most noticeable. Some candied orange peel as well. There was also an intense weed-like quality to the nose. Somewhat dank and almost a touch musty, but in a good sort of way.

The flavor profile was definitely more dry and bitter than the aroma but fantastic nonetheless. Quite lemony and bright. Good dose of tropical fruits. Mango and papaya were noticeable. Citrus notes also came through strong. Orange peel was apparent. Lemon notes reappeared on the back end. Crisp and slightly tart. Dank, marijuana notes were detectible. The beer finished pithy and dry with loads of white grapefruit. Slightly bitter. As the beer warmed, the lemon notes intensified.

The mouthfeel was lighter bodied for the style and quite bubbly. Frothy and foamy on the palate. Perhaps a touch airy. The carbonation eventually settled down and the liquid turned super slick, creamy and smooth.

Trillium Brewing never disappoints with their hoppy beer offerings, and Melcher Street IPA is definitely another winner. The Morteuka hops lend a really interesting and dynamic flavor profile that is both tropical and lemony. I would love to see more breweries make use of this fantastic hop cultivar.

Crazy good IPA-- right up there with the best of the east coast ales- Dinner, Heady... with an uber-funky-hop nose....still have to give the nod to HF for the best but Trillium competes nicely !!

First time having this. Less than a week old. Similar to Congress St, but a sweeter fruit flavor in the hops. Probably wouldn't have id'd the green onion on the nose if I hadn't read the other reviews, but I didn't think it was in the taste at all. I loved it, better than Congress St by just a bit.

Pour is heavily hazed golden yellow with a deeper amber center and lots of tight white head that lingers for a while. Nose is heavily hopped, citra? Tons of melon rind and tangy citrus, a hint of doughy malt and some nice clean grain. Flavor is again heavily hopped with musky melon rinds and tons of citrus hop. The hops really dominate the flavor, finish is fairly bitter, gets slightly harsh, lingers for a moment through the finish. Lighter bodied and nicely carbonated, slightly grainy in the finish.

Notes from 1/10/15

A - 4 fingers of bubbly dense white head. Slightly hazy golden straw body with plenty of visible car. Excellent retention and lacing.

S- Citrus rind, sweet grapefruit, and tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, and peach). Really well balanced. Some dankness.

T - Mellow flavors. Citrus bitterness with some balanced sweetness in the finish. Also, dankness in the back. Orange. Grapefruit with a mild malt presence and tropical fruit behind.

M - Medium carb with a lighter mouthfeel for the style. Easy drinking.

25oz. bottle served in a shaker pint. Bottled 010615. Pours a light golden-orange with a frothy, half-inch white head and a semi-hazy clarity. Head eventually settles into a creamy dollop with delicate sheets and strands of lacing revealed as the brew recedes. Great nose - bright citrus, rind and a kiss of floral/herbal aromatics towards the back. Taste is lemony followed by zest. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light) with a lively carbonation just shy of crisp and a slight acidity that lightly stimulates the salivary glands. Overall, an excellent IPA with a slightly atypical character - not the traditional juicy or earthy/herbal options. Alcohol is quite well-hidden as well.
