Pot and Kettle with Cold Brew is just one of our many inspired collaborations with Barrington Coffee Roasting Company. With decades of experience hand-selecting and roasting single origin beans from across the world, cold brewed Barrington coffees provide the perfect addition to our signature oatmeal porter. Like a fresh pull of espresso, Coffee Pot & Kettle pours a dark, almost black color with a dense, sepia brown head. Aromas of fresh brewed coffee, nutty cocoa, dark fruits, burnt-caramel, and subtle vanilla waft out of the glass. Moderate in body with medium carbonation; Deep, roasty flavors of cacao, earthy-coffee, mocha, toffee, and dark malt sweep over the palate with an oatmeal-based creaminess and gentle bitterness. To fully explore the wide range of unique aromas and flavors derived from the diverse array of coffees available, we continuously experiment with varying Barrington roasts and blends with each batch of Pot & Kettle with Cold Brew.

A-Black body with redish hues around the edges when held to the light. About two fingers of fizzy tan head which quickly dissipates like cola.
S- Mild coffee notes. Dark chocolate. Vanilla.
T- Follows the nose. Vanilla is far more subdued. Bitter, slightly metallic middle. Finish smooths out with some cocoa and nuttiness. Coffee is very well integrated.
M- High carbonation and thin body. Surprised with the feel cosnideringt the addition oats to the base....

Undated can. Deep and dark brown with a robust khaki head that fades slowly leaving no lacing whatsoever. Smell is dark roast coffee and roasted malts. Taste is similar with a bit of dry hop bite, minimal oatmeal presence. Smooth finish that leaves a nice roasted malt and coffee coating on the tongue. Delicious!

A: Deep, dark brown with some medium brown clarity around the edges - pours with a medium-large, light tan head, retains a wispy cap and a small collar, leaves an impressive amount of lacing, nice streaks and webs
S: In a word, coffee - Pot & Kettle already had some coffee aromas, so the addition of actual coffee really puts the coffee center stage - like walking into a coffee shop and then getting medium roast cold-brewed coffee - roasty and lightly burnt aromas - some chocolate malt, dark chocolate, semisweet chocolate, cocoa - some cooked sugar and caramel sweetness - finishes with lingering coffee beans
T: Even for a coffee beer, this has a lot of coffee in it - nicely roasty coffee without any hints of acidity, which I suppose is the magic of cold brew - roasty, toasty, and a touch burnt grain - burnt chocolate malts, dark chocolate, cocoa - some malty sweetness, touches of caramel and maybe some molasses - touches of oat - lingering coffee flavor
M: Medium body, silky smooth with some chew, medium carbonation
O: Pot & Kettle & that giant plastic tub with coffee grounds steeping in water
Pot & Kettle is a very solid porter, and Barrington makes solid coffee. Oddly enough, the amount of coffee in this really dominates the balance. I like it a lot, but if you don't love coffee, do not even try this beer.

Obviously not so well-known for their darker beers, Trillium nevertheless has knocked it out of the park with several stouts and porters now - Affogato was excellent, and the barrel-aged variant is practically impossible to get.
So I settled for some Pot & Kettle. What certainly stands out about this porter is just how coffee-forward it is. That cold brewed coffee is STRONG - it's right in your nose, as soon as you pop the can, and the roasty, almost burned-bean taste is incredibly forward. There's also a sweet, creaminess to the beer that makes for a very pleasant coffee and cream sort of experience.
Not my favorite coffee beer - the coffee is just too roasty for me - but this is quite good.

Dark brown with a nice head which left a light lacing in the glass. Malt, cocoa and coffee in the nose. Those same flavors dominate the taste. The mouthfeel is smooth but a bit thin for an oatmeal beer. A nice long smooth finish that slowly fades into a slightly hoppy aftertaste. This beer noticeably improved as it warmed.
