This progressive variation of Fort Point Pale Ale spotlights Enigma; a dynamic hop recently developed and cultivated in Australia. Engaging aromas of melon and stone fruit converge on the nose with an intriguing herbal essence in the backdrop. Ripe cantaloupe advances to the palate giving way to complementing flavors of light tropical fruit, blood orange, and a hint of spice. Enigma Dry Hopped Fort Point is medium in body with the distinctively mellow bitterness, gentle mouthfeel, and dry finish of our signature pale ale.

Pours a nearly opaque slightly darkened gold color with a robust, dense 3 finger head that retains well and leaves good lacing.
Aroma is full of nectarine and peach notes with a dusty tinge to it.
Taste is a bit harsh up front with fruit notes and a light to moderate bitterness. This quickly fades and allows the nice stonefruit notes to come through with a pleasant sweetness behind it. The finish seems to get back some of the bitterness but retains the fruit with a little less sweetness. The pale malts are lost behind all of this.
Feel is very soft and smooth, maybe a little thick - much more than you would expect from a pale ale.
This is a pretty amazing pale ale in terms of character - just full of mouth feel and flavor. The Enigma offers a distinctive stone fruit twist that may appeal to some more than others when not mixed, but I think it is pretty good.

Canned on 11/19/18; consumed on 12/5/18.
A: Poured from the can into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is hazy yellow-golden with a half-finger of whitish head, which leaves behind some rings of lace.
S: Ripe melon, underripe melon, stone fruits (apricot) and white grape skins. A touch dank too.
T: Really follows the nose, with melon/ripe canteloupe, apricot and white grape (reminds me of Nelson Sauvin hops a little). Also a touch of citrus - orange peel, lemon, grapefruit pith - and some oniony dankness. Finishes with a good bitterness that coats the palate nicely.
M: Definitely juicy in feel; call it medium in body.
O: Quite good - I like that while this is juicy, it's not too sweet. Good dry lingering bitterness reminds me of a traditional IPA at the finish, while up to that point this is all NEIPA.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 11/19/18
Less than 2 weeks on this can, AWESOME!
Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice cloudy yellowish/orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, cantaloupe, mango, pineapple), pretty nice diesel like. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a really nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, cantaloupe, mango, pineapple), really nice diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. Addictive! Orange Julius! Milk Shake! Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. Thanks Tom!

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip glass.
Pours a hazy deep orange color with 2 fingers of fluffy off-white head. The head hangs around for a long time, like that annoying dude at the party who no one wants there yet he keeps finding reasons to stay. The head leaves some nice, sticky lacing before finally settling into a thick blanket of foam.
The aroma is spicy up front, then comes a wave of basil and cilantro, followed by some overripe melon, mangoes, and pineapple. Very earthy.
The flavor is all about that melon. Cantaloupes and honeydew melon all the way. There's some candied citrus and a hint of grapefruit before some oniony dankness on the finish.
The feel is medium bodied, bordering on light. Soft carbonation. Soft yet a tad oily.
Overall, a very good pale ale that's definitely different from the typical Fort Point variation. This one is dank and bitter and the body is not as creamy as expected. Still, a very good beer.
