Free Rise saison features locally sourced wheat from Valley Malt and expresses balanced, fermentation derived characteristics of earth and spice from the use of our farmhouse yeast blend. Light-bodied with subtle wheat malt character, delicate white pepper notes, and dry finish; Free Rise is a welcomed addition to our family of farmhouse ales.

Admission - I have no idea when this was bottled. No date code.
Pours golden, slightly hazy, enormous rocky head that hangs well.
The smell is probably a bit subdued, but It is yeasty, bready, and very Belgian with the usual suspects of spice and fruit. Banana, grassy, lemon. I get the wheat pretty clearly.
This stuff tastes pretty good. It is fairly typical and represents the style well, and I would say it is well-constructed. Very grainy and slightly sweet with wheat in the foreground. This is buoyed up by lemon notes, clove, white pepper, and further anchored by an earthy presence. Nice, restrained phenolic bite.
A bit short of medium bodied, amply carbonated, nice bitterness on the finish to reset the taste buds. Good brew, good representation of a style with a lot of variability.

Pours a light color and tastes as you would expect a Trillium saison to. Smooth and easy to drink, nice flavor but not over powering at all. Would be nice on a hot day - very crushable. Not Trillium's best by any stretch but a solid beer.
