This special edition of Free Rise, one of our signature farmhouse ales, highlights locally sourced Danko Rye from Valley Malt and Citra in the dry hop. A floral, citrus hop profile is balanced with subtle, nutty malt character and a delicate black pepper spice. Light in body, with a clean, bone-dry finish, Citra Dry Hopped Free Rise is a welcomed addition to our family of farmhouse ales.
MALT: Pilsner, Danko Rye, Flaked Wheat, Dextrose

Traded for this a while ago, as the date on the bottom of the can read 7/20/17. Yes, I know that this was old when I cracked it but it held up well as there was no sediment in it whatsoever and the taste was relatively close to the beer's description. I haven't had any of the other releases in the Free Rise series but if this was an indicate, I'd want to since it was *not* like their more notable IPA's. Dry and nuanced, this felt quite a bit like white wine with some hops and malt thrown in for more depth!
Nice pour to this as the beer was bright, brassy, and somewhat muted but not cloudy or overly dank. Plenty of lively foam topped this off but surprisingly, there wasn't much lacing to be seen outside of the tiny collar at the top. Floral and Pilsner tones filled the dry notes with a bit of white wine and white grape thrown in for good measure. The taste was just as dry with some woodsy, champagne, and wheat in the mix as the citrus slickness could be felt in the mouthfeel. Fun and easygoing, this wasn't light in taste or body as it was nicely balanced white being easy to quaff, with just a bit of water needed at the end as a chaser...
Not a lot of booze here and just a hint of warming could be felt as I finished this off. Hard to find the spice or black pepper her but regardless, an underlying funk served as a reminder of what kind of beer this was. Wish I could get my hands on the other iterations of this, as I found this to be very enjoyable!
