Our signature porter, brewed with oats, has a soft, velvety mouthfeel with layers of chocolate and roasted malt on the palate. The ominously black appearance belies this porter's approachability; Pot & Kettle is satisfyingly smooth and nourishing, but never lumbering or heavy. While not sweet, dark fruit notes, such as cherries, dates, and raisins, reveal themselves as the beer warms.

MALT: American 2-row, Rolled Oats, Pale Chocolate, Black (Patent), Carafa III, Caramunich, C-120, C-80

Picked up a 16 oz can from the Blue Door Bottleshop in Hendersonville 1-27-23 for $9.00. Canned 1-13-23; consumed 12-5-23. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured dark brown with a nice long lasting tan head.

Nose has notes of toasted and roasted malts and a hint of chocolate and dark fruit.

Taste is really nice; the malt base gives me notes of chocolate with a touch of raisins. Finishes nicely balanced with sufficient hopping and no hints of astringency.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with each sip being smooth and creamy.

Overall a really good porter, one of the better ones i have had in a while.

A: Pours a clear but opaque jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark amber + dark chestnut brown + dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger all dense sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted + dark + caramel + oat malts with light amounts of dark fruit (cherry + raisin + date) sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of earthy hops. Hints of coffee + chocolate.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + dark + caramel + oat malts with light amounts of dark fruit (cherry + raisin + date) sweetness. That is followed by hints of coffee + chocolate. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of earthy hops. Moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth, almost creamy with a moderate amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly creamy + dry mouthfeel. Enjoyable with lots of complexity to the malt aromas + flavors without much sweetness.

By far, one of the best beers that I’ve ever had. No need to mention, Kate Upton, Eva Green, or Sanna Marrin. Oh, wait… I don’t know, and I almost don’t want to…but here I am. Eating your morning porridge on LSD. Am I there? I think I am.

Dark brown, tall beige head that falls to a thin foamy layer. Looks great.

Smells milk chocolate, brown sugar and toffee, oats, nutty, brown bread, light vanilla and a touch of coffee, a little dark fruit but not much at first. Builds some fruitiness as it warms. Nicely balanced.

There is a lot of chocolate in the taste, but the party doesn't end there. There is a lot going on, more than I can describe. But the highlights are brown sugar, brown bread, fruity raisin, nutty notes, toasty oats, and a decent level of bitterness. This is a well-designed and nicely executed beer.

Smooth and slick mouth feel. Restrained carbonation, medium bodied. There is a bit of a chalky feel on the end. Creamy, but no lingering sweetness despite the big chocolate flavors.

I rather like this one. It is an enjoyable drinker that's as complicated as you want it to be.
