Dark copper color. Thin but sticky head.

I sniffed the bottle before pouring and it smelled just like a bottle of V8 Juice. Still smells like V8 Juice in my glass though slightly less so. This is so going to ruin my beer, once just doesn’t ignore V8 Juice. A fruit juice hop and caramel aroma emerges from the vegetable medley once it warms up. Odd first impression though.

Thankfully does not taste like V8. Tastes like some juicy bubble gum hops as a matter of fact, with light crystal malts to boot. I don’t get any caramel or toffee suggested by the label but just general crystal/caramel maltiness. There’s a bread crust and herbal Ricola belch in back which is almost as unappealing as the tomato juice. Very light bodied but I’ll sacrifice a little body for a 5.2% as I’m not the drinker I used to be.

A = Slightly cloudy, rusty orange color, short-lived head that leaves moderate lacing.

S = I can definitely smell caramel and malt and hops.

T = Somewhat caramel (they also say toffee on the label, I'm guessing referring to a buttery quality to the caramel, but all's I taste is caramel). The hops are stronger than the sweetness in the end, so that's what's most memorable to me. Sweet up front, hoppy at the end.

M = The label calls this an "American Amber Ale," and I would say that it's on the light side of an ale for mouthfeel. Kind of a beer/ale mix to me.

O = This is unique in my tasting experience. Kind of a 70% amber beer / 30% IPA combination. I like it for what it is, but not sure if I'd revisit. As far as food pairings, the label suggests it accompanies "delicate seafoods, poultry dishes, and salads," to which I would counter with flavorful seafoods such as salmon or swordfish, perhaps a clams casino (bacon!) but nothing delicate (e.g. filet of sole), definitely poultry dishes, especially those prepared with herbs, winter salads only with pickled root veggies/blue cheese/walnuts/spicy greens, and maybe a nice lamb chop! Good stuff...give it a try!

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pub glass.

A: Pours a rich crystal clear red/amber with a thick white head that is long lasting

S: Piney hops and sweet malt

T: The taste follows the smell.

M: The light side of medium bodied. Lightly carbonated.

O: A good solid example of the style. I would buy this again.

Pours a three finger off-white head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Nice crystal clear ruby/amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Light pine nose, flavor is a balance of caramel and pine hops. $6.99 for a 22oz bottle from Market Basket Concord. NH.

Pours a deep garnet brown color with a smallish khaki head that that quickly dissipates to a cap on top. Smells of caramel and toffee with a hint of earthy citrus hops. The flavor is English inspired with a lightly chalky sulfur and caramel toffee maltiness with hints of earthy spicy hops that barely provide balance. Is that a bitter butterscotch I am getting in the flavor? Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. A new NH brewery and I sooo wanted to be blown away. This one is OK, but really nothing special.
