Thanks to JLindros for giving me this bottle the last time I was at his house. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a crystal clear deep golden hue with a thin half a finger head that faded to leave a thin, thin quarter inch blanket.

S - Aromas of light, grassy hops, lots of toasted malts, clean but old along with some light metallic notes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Grassy hops, faint earthy notes. Old citrus, toasted sweet malts, faint grains, light tea notes. Decent enough bitter finish that cuts in to the sweetness.

M - Mouthfeel is decent enough carbonation, though definitely feels a bit thin/watery.

O - Overall, a pretty average beer. Kind of expected this as this wasnt exactly the freshest bottle.

Very light fizzy head, hazy tan orange color.

Nose light grassy hops, little floral hint citrus and fruity notes, mild sweet toasty like malt base, fairly light and clean.

Taste brings more grassy hops, very grassy and leafy, little floral, bit herbal and earthy too, fairly bitter too and gritty. Mild sweet malt with little toasty grainy note and decent balance. Little herbal tea and fair bitterness. Finish is dry and gritty, bitter, more earthy herbal grassy hops, little malt, long quite bitter lingering finish.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb, little gritty.

Overall not bad, typical pale not quite American more U.K. I think, bit too gritty feeling too, but a pretty decent beer all things considered.

A pint poured at Beantown Pub in the heart of Boston ($6), across the street from my hotel. Early morning 11/17/2013.

A: golden pour with little rising carbonation showing. Scant white head, good clinging foamy ring. Whatever head started at 1-finger ends quickly as a skim and a slim ring.

S: Bland cereal-sweet scent. A little metallic/brassy then a bit more grains/sugars. Not much strength, a little boring and simple.

T: Caramel and zingy orange peel spice. The more it warms, the more I sip, the more I like it. A bit candy-like in its malt base. Balance skews toward grain.

M: Reasonably crisp, clean finish.

O: Pretty average in most ways; "drinkable" but completely unremarkable. I chose it because it was the one thing on the beer list that I hadn't seen elsewhere in Boston; I'm not sure if it's popular with the locals as the bartender wasn't even aware of the beer I was asking for. Fine for a try, would pick something else next time.

No head and therefore no lace--a poor start. The liquid is dark gold/light amber. Mild haze.

Very good nose considering the to-the-brim pour. Good blend pale and lightly toasted crystal malts with a pepper/floral hop. Some raw grain as well.

Leans to the bitter but features a solid (but brief) malt base. The hop is not complex but the overall taste is quite pleasant. Rich body for the style with a muted level of carbonation.

Had on tap at the Bayside.
Fairly regular brew. Some hops pop out of the malt but there's a bit of a rough, dusty feel on the end of the flavor that wasn't, well, for lack of a better word "clean".
So I scored it a little low for that.
Otherwise a nice brew for a summer day.

I had this on tap at Whiskey's. The color is a dark, cloudy gold with a nice matting. The smell was dull and floral, slight spice. The mouthfeel was nice and soft, a bit grainy. The taste had a decent amount of citrus and some spice that followed the scent on the tip of the tongue. Just started seeing this beer around this spring, and it's a nice local brew.

On-tap 2/7/2013 at British Beer Company in Walpole, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short dense white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains citrus, grassy hops and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts with a strong earthy hops bitterness followed by a mild citrus and caramel sweetness. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and creates a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bitter.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer to pound down for a while but there are better choices in the style.

Had on tap at New World Tavern--Plymouth--served into a pint glass

Appearance: minimal head, orange-brown in color, clear, low carbonation

Smell: pale malt, orange, and caramel

Taste: pale malt, orange, and caramel with earthy hops

Mouthfeel: sweet start with a light bitter middle and a stronger bitter end, light bodied, moderate-light carbonation

Overall:A good not great pale ale that I would get again. I like the orange taste here.

Very sessionable beer. Appearence is a dark golden color. Smell is mild hints of caramel and vanilla. Light caramel notes with some hints of honey and flowers. Very good version of this style. Mouthfeel is smooth and easy. Not over powering. Definitely worth your time.
