330ml bottle bought from Lighthouse Wines, Belfast

Poured pretty much pitch black even when held up to the light... Dirty burnt brown head poured to decent thickish covering.. light patchy sticky lacing...

Aroma - Roasted coffee and cocoa to the fore with some oaky and vanilla notes coming through, leathery and slightly sooty, charcoal notes, toasted bread, chocolate maltiness, burnt toffee, treacle, earthy hints, light nuttiness, some light date and black cherries fruitiness, alcohol fairly noticeable...

Taste - Charred roasted dark chocolate malts up front mixed with strong espresso and vanilla, lots of warming alcohol, sooty, definite oakiness, vanilla, some faint piney hops, earthy, toffee, toasted nutty sweetness, some treacle, faint anise

Feel - Smooth and fairly creamy... medium to full bodied... a little on the boozy side to be too quaffable

Overall - An excellent brew although not quite as well balanced as the non barrel aged version... recommended though
