Heard this place had Belgian beers so had to check it out. Hadn't had a beer with decent flavour for about two months. Apparently owned by a Thai woman and Belgian man.
Atmosphere was alright. Just another restaurant in Thailand geared towards Western tourists. It was pretty quiet, female owner/bartender/all rounder was quietly seated in the corner most of the time with a few other tables going about their business. No tv on, very condusive to conversation. A few TinTin posters on the walls, probably a nod to the Belgian side of the ownership.
Quality of the beer was good. I had a Kasteel beer which was really fresh and refrigerated.
Service was good. First beer I wanted wasn't available so she started unloading the fridge to show me what was inside. Typical Thai love in the North. She poured the entire beer into proper glassware, a practice that wouldn't go over too well in Belgium, but I do this at home so it didn't bother me at all. She was very attentive to our needs but gave us our space.
In terms of selection in Thailand this is a great place. Otherwise not so much. They had Rochefort 8/10, Kasteel dark and light, and about 6 other beers including Vedette in bottles. Chang on tap. Hard to rate this element, but I'll try to see it for what it was.
Overall this place was a nice stopover. $5 for a beer in Thailand seems ludicrous, but I just needed my fix. By no means a place to rave about, but somewhere you can really hang out for a long while.
