Our award-winning oatmeal stout is brewed with Vermont maple syrup and brown sugar because sometimes you have to celebrate being alive. Especially if you carelessly shot a signal flare and found yourself and everything around you engulfed in flames.

CAN: Ran me $1.89 at Stein's Market & Deli, New Orleans, LA. 12 fl oz. Uninteresting white and brown/orange label design. Canned 12/18/18.
"Ale brewed with maple syrup and brown sugar." "Oatmeal stout." 5.7% ABV. Currently #33 on BeerAdvocate's (admittedly very small) Best Mississippi beers list.
Has a nice smooth, wet, coating mouthfeel with an apt silkiness to it that showcases the smoothening effect of the oats nicely. It is disappointingly thin, however, which is the last thing I expected in a beer brewed with Vermont maple syrup...usually they're goopy and viscous if anything.
There's not a lot of flavour here, just maple sugar, dark malt sweetness, and maybe specialty chocolate malt. I expected more commitment to the Vermont maple syrup and brown sugar, but both flavours are quite timid.
It's fine. I'd sooner buy Stockyard from Trader Joe's when after an oatmeal stout, and that's much cheaper than this to boot. I guess there ain't much local competition in Mississippi keeping these guys on their toes, but it's by no means a bad brew - just an underwhelming stab at a maple syrup oatmeal stout.
Tastes like I figure a maple syrup brown sugar oatmeal stout would were it included in a Boston Beer Co. variety 12 pack.

Delicious oatmeal stout, this. Bit of a gusher, with a typical pour raising nearly a full glass of light tan head atop a coffee-colored body. The head eventually settled to a thin ring. Lots of carbonation, which made the mouthfeel a little light. Big aromas and flavors of molasses, maple syrup, dark coffee, caramel, and a little tart black cherry. Sweet, but not nearly as sweet as you'd expect. Finish is actually quite dry, with a tinge of astringence. This turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Well done, Lucky Town!

Pours dark brown, a little lighter than black with a small khaki head.
The aroma is rich roasted malts, coffee, a little chocolate and a very faint sweetness.
The flavor follows the nose. It's roasty and sweet. I don't get a ton of the maple, but there's a definite burnt sugar. It's a solid low abv stout, but not the best.
The mouthfeel isn't bad, it's full enough, and thicker than I'd expect out of a 5.7 beer.
Overall, it's very good. I'd buy it when it's available, but it's not worth trading for. There are stouts on this level everywhere.

A muted brown color with slightly orange highlights.
Aroma of roasted coffee. Some burnt toffee as well but all that covers up the hop scent.
Taste of roasted malt/coffee with a clean finish. Brewer says this is brewed with Vermont Maple syrup and brown sugar but I can't tell if that means before fermentation or is added afterwards. I don't get much in the way of sweetness that those flavorings would add because this brew tastes and finishes rather dry. Columbus and Fuggle hops are used for an IBU of 58 but they're so over layered by the coffeeish malt if I'd been told the IBU was half that I wouldn't have argued.
Almost full texture with a good dose of carbonation. A fuller, rounded feel that borders on creamy.
Brewer lists pale and dark roasted malts (chocolate, caramel, 60L and Black) as well as flaked oats and flaked barley. I think flaked grains do add to the body here and that's a plus. I also expect the hops would shine more if the roasted flavor were less heavy. Whether more accent on hops would be a better thing I can't say. I can say the resident Guinness fan gives this brew an enthusiastic thumps up but he drinks Guinness so there's that.

First had poured from growler into clear plastic (poolside) water cup, and then into faceted mug. The Flare Incident is a very quaffable sweet stout.

Pleasantly surprised. 7% abv. I'll be getting a growler of this to take home.
