A beer so enticing you may think it's nectar from the gods. The name "Hala Kahiki"(hahlah-kah-hee-kee), originates from the Hawaiian words for pineapple. Feel the way it rolls off your tongue? Our sweet and refreshing beer will take you away ...have a sip ...grab a lei!

A big shout out to woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy golden/white color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is strong of pineapple juice. Taste is also very much pineapples, some malts are present, easy drinking and refreshing. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall would be a great refreshing beer on a hot summer day.

This one pours a hazy yellow, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like pure candied pineapple and not much else.

This is essentially pineapple soda. There's basically no beer character at all, save for some slight wheat bitterness near the end. It's very sweet, and it would be refreshing ice cold, but I have a really hard time calling it a beer.

This is highly carbonated, giving more similarities to soda. It's got a crisp mouthfeel, and a thin body.

I guess this was ok, but it was hardly satisfying as a beer. The sweet pineapple flavor got pretty old quick.

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a Kulmbacher pokal glass

It is pale yellow in color similar to the color of the fruit of a pineapple. There was a white head that disappeared before I really noticed it.

The smell definitely had a pineapple smell. It also had a sweet, sugar coated cereal smell.

The taste has pineapple, but it combines with a flavor like the marshmallows in a box of Lucky Charms.

It has a thin and watery mouthfeel.

I tried this beer on tap and thought it would be good after mowing the lawn on a warm, summer day. The sugary sweet cereal taste and smell throws me off. I love pineapple, but the sweetness is too much.

12 oz can courtesy of mgbickel pours an opaque yellow color with a modest cap of white head. Not much for retention and lacing.

Not as sweet as I was expecting and the pineapple aromas are somewhat subtle. Malts are blonde ale-esque. Nice.

Taste shows some more sweetness than the aroma, but still not overly sugary...I was expecting something similar to the Chapeau Pineapple, but this one is definitely more 'beer-ey'. The mouthfeel is nice and bubbly, light maltiness. I think the pineapple is extremely well integrated here, I would love to have this one in sixers available for summertime chillin' in south tejas! My only complaint is the pineapple flavors taste more like 'canned' pineapple as opposed to fresh.

A: Pours a hazy pale yellow in color (not dissimilar to pineapple juice) with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass fairly quickly and faint straw yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy bright white head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of tropical pineapple - like one freshly sliced or the chunks from the can.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of wheat malts which are quickly overtaken by moderate to strong flavors of pineapple (more like canned pineapple than freshly cut pineapple). Overall there is only a light amount of sweetness which surprised me as I was expecting the pineapple to contribute a lot more sweetness. Minimal amounts of bitterness in the finish and it does not linger at all.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery.

O: Very easy to drink and refreshing for a hot day here at the beach in NC. Nice canned format and low ABV makes this one a nice afternoon beer. Definitely worth grabbing if you like pineapple and delivers exactly what it promises.

On my last trip to Da Burgh, I met up with a couple of my buddies at Rivertowne Pour House and they were kind enough to assemble a mixed case of four (4) six-packs of each of their six (6) CANned beers in support of The CANQuest (TM)! If that is not customer service, then I do not know what is! Subsequent to that, my running mate and I encountered Andrew Maxwell at PHL Beer Week and he expressed chagrin at having established his reputation on pineapple beer and something else that eludes me. No reason for embarrassment, Mr. Maxwell, as this is a great beer, made greater in a CAN! If you get a chance to visit the brewpub, try this with the Hawaiian (ham & pineapple) pizza. To die for!

From the CAN: "Ale with Natural Pineapple Juice added"; The Malty/Hoppy Meter pegs this one somewhere between White and Blonde, toward the Malty end of the spectrum; "A beer so enticing you may think it's nectar from the gods. The name 'Hala Kahiki (hah-lah-kah-hee-kee) originates from the Hawaiian word for Pineapple. Feel the way it rolls off your tongue? Our sweet and refreshing beer will take you away ... have a sip ... grab a lei!"; "Cheers and thanks, [undersigned] Andrew T. [?] Maxwell Brew Master".

The Crack of yet another brimful craft CAN was music to mine ears! My kitchen smelled like Veg Prep on days that we were making dishes involving tropical fruit. The inverted Glug began to threaten an overflow until I backed off, but the puffy two fingers of bubbly, bone-white head were a sight to behold. The color was a cloudy lemon-yellow and the visual effect was of looking at a liquid lemon meringue pie. The head was no match for the day's humidity and fell fairly quickly, leaving some nice lacing in its wake. Nose smelled like CANned Dole Pineapple Juice, or better, A&P Brand CANned Pineapple Juice, which my late maternal grandmother used to buy for .29 at the A&P on the corner of North Ann and East King Streets. It was a staple in her refrigerator when I was but a wee lad. If you ever get a chance, read John Updike's short story, "A&P". Mouthfeel was soft, almost creamy and the taste was definitely of natural pineapple, not some estery concoction dreamed up in a laboratory. This was not sweet, but more tangy as real pineapple is wont to be. Finish was semi-sweet, again, not full-on sugary like kiddie CANdy, which the uninitiated might expect. This definitely rates cooler space, especially when out with those who claim that they don't like beer.

Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a small white head. In the aroma, citrus pineapple juice. In the taste, pineapple juice with a wheat like note. A smooth and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a semi dry pineapple citrus in the aftertaste. A bit acidic, but big fruity and tasty.

Very refreshing!

Perfect for a hot summer day...heck I could even drink this beer with breakfast like pineapple juice!

The aroma is what makes it even better. You can smell the pineapple as you are drinking it. It's light and easy to drink.

My wife won't drink any beer but loves this one.

I have also had it on tap...I enjoy both of them and haven't had anything similar to this Hala kahiki.

If you have never tried it...I highly recommend doing so!

It tastes like the juice that is left over in the cheap pineapple cups you buy for your children's lunch.

12oz can poured into a pint glass
A: Light yellow with a one-finger head that quickly settles
S: Sweet like canned crushed pineapple
T: Also like canned crushed pineapple
M: Light, sweet, pleasant carbonation
O: Worth a try especially if you like pineapple. I could see this going well with several different desserts but I'd need a reason to drink it before I buy more. It certainly is good for the fruit beer style but not something I'd regularly drink on its own

Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a hazy hazy pale pineapple juice hue with a quarter inch head that faded quickly to leave a light light halo.

S - Aromas of really sweet pineapple chunks, from a can, pineapple candy. It delivers what it promises.

T - Really wish the taste lived up. The start is in your face pineapple, sweet crushed pineapple before giving way to a wheat/cereal like finish. The aftertaste is a bit underwhelming too, perhaps even slightly unpleasant. Just lots of that grain on the end with a lighter pineapple, the lingering aftertaste of sweet cereal.

M - Mouthfeel is on the thinner/watery side though is brightly carbonated.

O - Overall, this was a super neat beer. The nose was really, really good and so was the taste until the cereal grains came out. Still, it was a tasty beer and if this was ice cold I could see this going down incredibly easy in the summer time. Clearly not for everyone this beer does deliver exactly what it promises though.

What first started out as surprisingly delightful, turned into a souring disappointment. I'm by no means a beer snob; rather, I'll take a lawnmower beer before one of these things.

Poured from a can into pint glass. Fizzed nicely for fruit beer on light end. Appears very thin with a haze of pineapple. Smell a hint of pineapple maybe a banana clove amdbno alcoholic smell what so ever. Taste for fruit beer, maybe best I've had. Like a pineapple sprite, with less carbonation. Light beer drinkers dream brew. No syrupy taste, just a little sugar deliciousness that is far to easy to drink! Mouthfeel is light in carbonation and easy to smash! Overall a great beer if your out in sun or recreational activity! Smoothi and refreshing on a hot day or for the light beer drinkers!

The palest body I have ever seen. This is a whole new meaning to the term white ale. White head quickly collapsed.

Smells like pineapple juice.

Tastes like pineapple juice. There may be some beer here, but its buried deep.

Light mouthfeel.

Ok. Maybe it's a Bud and pineapple juice half and half. The pineapple is fine, but I need more beer with it.
