A 330ml bottle with a BB of March 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Hopefully still OK. Picked up a while back from Beeritz and stored under my bed.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A bright, hazy golden hue with plenty of floating sediment and good carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of fruity yeast esters with hints of husky grain, coriander, spice, faint white pepper, camomile, a twinge of citrus peel and stewed leaves. Rather nice.

Tastes of fruity yeast esters with a dry, herbal finish. Notes of yeast esters, coriander, camomile, spice, faint pepper, husky grain, a citrus twang, earthiness, stewed leaves and a hint of cardboard in the background. Highly attenuated, followed by a delicate, herbal bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Pretty astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of dry yeast esters, earthiness and mild stewed herbs/leaves.

A tasty brew, and none the worse for being a tad old. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are fantastically spicy and fruity with a touch of herbal leafiness. Decent body. Goes down nicely - a well-crafted saison that hits the spot. Worth sampling if you come across it.

A: It was a gusher, and I was unprepared. 1 1/2 finger fluffy white head. I think the beer was only a slightly cloudy, mostly clear gold color. However there was a ton of sediment in the bottle which also caught me off guard and some made it into the glass. No big deal as it settled pretty quickly. It looks nice, but wish there was a little more retention which is typical of the style. The head dissipated to a film which left a little bit of lacing.

S: Very lemony citrus. Lots of ginger. Actually the ginger is almost overpowering. I am not finding any phenolic yeast as expected for the style, but I bet its behind the ginger. Its interesting that they include "black pepper" on the label.

T: Ginger and a little bit juicy. The low alcohol in this one jives in the traditional sense and is noticeable, and interesting. Just a hair of funk. Grassy. Just a bit of phenols behind the ginger which I find too overbearing.

MF: Prickly and light. Very nice mouthfeel for the style. Quite refreshing.

O: Tough to gauge overall. The ginger was over the top, and I feel there was probably more there than I could taste. I would have liked more funk, but it was pretty good. I'm curious what this beer would have been like fresher. I would revisit.

Champagne blonde with lots of floaties and crusty white foam.
Herb garden, lemon peel, flowers and some barnyard on the nose.
Waxy lemon rind, madeleine, some white pepper and grassy hops.
Orangeaide flash to finish and eucalyptus linger.
Crisp, slightly chewy, approaching medium.

Note: Labelled as "citrus"

Round and citrussy with just enough funk. Added oranges are there; not so much the lemons. Not as interesting as the sage, but a solid saison.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Fuller snifter glass. Bottled 5th March '13.

Pours a hazy light golden colour with a white head.

Smells of biscuity malts, quite tart, and of yeasty spice.

Tastes of tart, citrus fruit, yeasty spice, with a doughy malt backbone.

Overall a pretty decent saison, very solid.
