Barrett’s Farmhouse Ale-Is a straw-gold rustic ale “on lees” that evokes a time long ago with a robust yeast strain, that likes it hot…a vigorous top-fermenting classic that provides some of the best food pairing flavors on the planet. We temper this spicy, fruity yeast profile with pedigreed noble hops; East Kent Goldings for bittering and a generous dose of Hersbrucker for aroma. This beer will increase in complexity and dryness over time, providing a bit of insolent freshness up front, and more refined dignity even months after the brew date kept in the right conditions…above all upright and away from light.

Hazy gold. Lasting but small head. Some streaks for lace.
Grainy aroma with a dollop of yeast and sour apples.
Lots of black licorice to the this beers taste. The lack of sweetness makes this more bitter than it actually is. The carbonation is high but the body neutral. The finish and aftertaste is mostly yeasty with a dry bitterness.

Review from BA Mag Issue #117 ( Oct 2016 )
Fruity, Gummy, Spicy, Rustic
A canned Saison that has just enough carbonation for the style to lift the crispness. Barrett’s Farmhouse Ale offers lots of layers to pull back—with each sip something else emerges. There’s a light spice character throughout, along with modest but very flavorful hopping. Bubblegum, bready malt, tea, breath alcohol, green peppercorn, and some earthiness all turn up as well. This unassuming Farmhouse Ale from Battle Road really does it for me. It’s a sleeper in the pack, and the real deal. [Jason]

Hard to say this is good with soooo many better examples out there. Sort of just a yeasty Pale with a bready malt profile. Wasn't remarkable beyond that.

A: cloudy; deep gold in color; 1 finger ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; very nice lacing;
S: Belgian yeast, orange, and orange rind;
T: Belgian yeast, then orange for a moment; the middle is predominantly nutmeg; finish is a combination of Belgian yeast, orange, and nutmeg;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: the nutmeg character was a departure from the norm;

On-tap 11/29/2015 at Natty Greene’s Tavern in North Attleboro, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a bright gold color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains bananas, wheat, caramelized malts, citrus, Belgian yeast and some spice.
T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat, Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. Then some sweet flavors of bananas, caramel, citrus and some spice come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a long time.
