Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, tropical fruit, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with grape Tootsie Pop, floral, and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with fresh, fruity hop presence that makes this one tasty and easy to drink.

Pours a golden color with a nice foamy cap in the Peroni lager glass. One of the least orange-tinted IPAs I've seen from California. Brewer notes that hops are primarily Galaxy, Falconer’s Flight, and Southern Cross. Plenty bitter with some twiggy and resiny taste.

A variety of fruity enliven the massive hop onslaught. Some pineapple and mango, but overwhelmed by the grapefruit. Very pithy. The malt is so pale and ghostly, but there is some toasty flavor followed by the alcohol sensation.

Yet another sharp and acidic West Coast IPA. Perfectly drinkable but a very thin body and a real throat scratcher. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at the North Park Tasting Room.

Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a half finger white head with decent retention and lacing. Aroma of bready malt, pineapple, grapefruit and citrus hops. Flavor follows with citrus, slightly piney hops, citrus rind, light tropical fruit, mild malt. Long, lingering citrus hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied. A nice citrusy IPA that emphasizes hops over malt, but still well balanced. A solid, enjoyable hoppy IPA from a brewery with a name that didn't inspire confidence, but still delivered.

Poured into a pint glass.

4.0 A: Moderately hazed light orange color. Two fingers of pillowy off-white head. Retention is very good and lots of lacing is left.

3.25 S: Surprisingly herbal with wildflowers and lemongrass. Smells almost like a saison. Dry citrus and peach underneath. Bready yeastiness and hints of caramel.

3.25 T: Tastes like it smells. Big herbal per above. Lots of peach, some lemon, hints of papaya. Again bready yeast and a like caramel maltiness.

3.25 M: Medium body. Chewy yeastiness. Mildly creamy and reasonably smooth.

3.0 D: I'm not a huge fan of herbal IPAs. It's okay, just not my preference.

12oz can poured into a can glass, canned 7/1/15

A- pours a hazy golden-orange color with a two-finger creamy and frothy off-white head that retains long after the pour, leaving some lacing behind

S- piney and citrus hop aroma with doughy and bready malt underneath, a bit of grassy aroma as well

T- taste follows the nose up front, citrus and pine hop flavors, followed by some juicy tropical notes, bready and grainy malt finish with lingers of grass and tropical fruit

M- medium-thick body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues through to the finish

O- a little malty, but some nice tropical hop notes coming through

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Hotel water glass
From: Barons Market in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $9.99 for a 6-pack
Purchased: May 13, 2015
Consumed: May 14, 2015
Misc.: Born on March 12, 2015 Reviewing at the Courtyard Marriott in Culver City, Calif.

Poured a honey, dark pale, hazy color with 4-to-5 fingers of frothy, white head. Could see some light bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very nice layered, foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled a whiff of malty hops up front, mainly Cascade, Galaxy and Citra, then spoiled fruit, herbal hops, light menthol, sugary nectarine, caramel and orange zest. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted similar to the nose with those Galaxy hops dominating. Also Cascade hops, boozy herbal hops, grassy malts, Citra hops, nectarine rind, orange zest and caramel. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, boozy finish. (Feel - 3.50)

I had this in a taster flight awhile back and gave it a 4. It was nowhere near that tonight. Still have five left unfortunately. (Overall - 3.50)

22oz bottle - FW Imperial nonic glass
Notes taken on 01/24/14

A: Mostly clear caramel color amber body. Super dense and thick khaki suds form over. Nearly three fingers worth and stubborn as all get out. Sticky lacing just blankets the sides of the glass upon each sip.

S: The nose is encumbered by a honey sweet malt aroma. There is some soft tropical florals underneath all the sweetness. Mostly malt filled however. A bit of a letdown in the aroma.

T: Leads with a honey graham cracker malt sweetness followed by a light hop bitterness. Earthy and floral with some tropical fruits mixed in. Touch of passion fruit there but you really have to be searching for it. Lightly noticeable alcohol. Honey malt sweetness abounds. Not sure what’s going on here. Comes across more like a hoppy Blonde ale.

M: Moderate heaviness from the filling malts. A light drying effort and some residual bitterness bring this a touch on the lighter side however.

D: Way to malt forward to be a West Coast Style IPA of my liking. Has a very pronounced honey like sweetness. Really drowns out the delicacies of the Galaxy and Nelson hops used.

More like a dishonor to all North County brewers here. Not a repeat for me.

I got a one liter growler of this from the Shelf Turd Olypics BIF. Nice clarity, good white head. Some lacing, deep gold with amber highlights, lots of bubbles.

Hints of melon, white grape juice. sweet malt and a bunch of juicy hops. Needs to warm a bit in order for the aromatics to come out...

Pretty solid hop flavor from this beer. Enamel coating bitterness with a decent balance of sweet, robust malt backbone. Not as complex or deep in flavor as the nose indicates.

Full bodied. Constant yet fine bubbles give the beer a smoothness on the palette. Very satisfying.

A good IPA that I enjoyed drinking a liter of and would certainly try again. But it isn't anything that will change the way you see IPA's. Belching Beaver made a solid IPA, that is all at once, balanced, hop-forward, and drinkable, with a robust ABV. Pretty good job overall.

Disappointed in this one, feels extremely light for a 7.3% IPA. Not a whole lot of flavor either, I've liked all the other belching beaver beers I've tried, this one by far the worst.

cool extra from a glass trade, enjoyed from a Willie b. murky orange w a big foamy head, classic look, nice lace. nose and taste is a caramel hop. a bit resinous, a bit sweet, with a nice malt backbone. super solid. easy drinker, nice ipa if not a bit too sweet and a bit tamed back on the hop blast. enjoyable though. better than your avg bear.

Pours a thick, hazy gold. I like hazy ipas. I find them appealing. The nose is good. Tropical. Papaya, cantelop, peach. The flavor is well balanced. Not super complex, but not disappointing either. It's a solid beer.

Pour: got a hazy golden color brew with a nice fluffy cream head. I really love that style of foam good stuff.

Smell: Not much of a aroma to it (i really don't smell nothing at all to be honest). Could just be me I'm not sure. Any who..

Taste: this brew is all about the taste took the first taste and i got a decent hoppy bite with a lot of grain to balance it out. As i kept drinking i picked up a different hop flavor, then i picked up a lot of citrus and a greenery spice this beer takes your taste buds a couple places.

Overall: At first i thought this beer was a hoppy version of bud light and was not impressed, it was to mellow and had that lager taste, but after all these brews i reviewed i know never to judge a brew by the first drink. The head retention is all the way down the glass which is another A+ in my book. Sooo cheers!!!

Every “Beaver” in the breweries beer line-up features its mascot as a different character based on the beer’s name. In this case, the Beaver is a highway patrol officer. The front label is fun, simple, and clean. The back label explains how the beer was born.

Not to be taken lightly, Belching Beaver possesses fine flavor, amazing aroma, lasting finish, and outstanding packaging.

22 oz bomber poured into glass.
L: Deep orange. Hazy.
Nice off-white head. Dissipates quickly, but leaves nice lacing
S: Some hops, and a little citrus
T: Hops are well balanced. There's a nice bitterness and a little sweetness. Has a pronounced orange/citrus taste (is that the Galaxy hops?)
F: Medium body. Medium carbonation.
O: Overall, a nice IPA. Not particularly hoppy, but very drinkable with a crisp citrus taste.
