Loved this place!! Had Three Floyds Jinxproof on tap and 51st ward's brown ale. Server brought me and a friend a sample of Grapefruit Sculpin as they just tapped the keg. Burgers were incredible; get the Lair of the Minotaur.

The metal-head theme made for a great feel, and one that I'd go back to.

Visited during a two-day stop in Chicago over the summer on a road trip. Would have gone to the original Kuma's but after six miles of walking this was closer to our hotel.

Very clean and neat setup with framed metal art posters lining one wall but besides that not much. However, as promised sludge/doom/stoner metal was blasting throughout the restaurant and that really got me pumped. We visited during lunchtime and the restaurant was busy with a diverse group of patrons; the quality of the burgers and beer seemed to have just as much pull as the metal theme.

The burger was hands-down massive and delicious. Sometimes I think big burgers can be overwhelming but the choice and amount of toppings (I got the Absu, also tried some Lair of the Minotaur) combined with a good bun helped this one. The beer selection was also great and service was fine. The draft list had a mix of local options (one Three Floyds line) and options from afar highlighting plenty of styles. The bottle list was also nice and well priced. Another thing I liked was how they had plenty of "rotating" burgers. It seemed like if you lived around here you would find a new burger monthly.

Was in the area so I stopped in for a burger and a few beers. It's an upgrade from the original Kumas space-wise, but it was still packed with people waiting out the door early on a Saturday evening.

It's a little more minimal and industrial decor inside, with a cool black and white mural and a display of metal records high on a shelf. Kung-fu and Apocalypto played on a flatscreen high in the corner... In Apocalypto there's a testicle eating scene that came on while I was ravaging a burger, won't soon forget that.

Draft selection was good, 3 from FFF, Maine MO, 2 Solemn Oath, Greenbush, and a few others were the highlights. About 25-30 beers in bottles, including Off Color Troublesome, which was the perfect foil to a massive slab of ground beef on a bun.

Service was timely at the bar, tender was able to keep up as it became crowded.

I'd return here on a weeknight to avoid the crowd, it's a welcome addition to this busy section of Lakeview, and not far from a few area hotels.
