A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2014, so it's just out of date. Acquired a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label doesn't give much away, but the name imbues this pale ale with a certain intensity.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A very hazy golden-amber hue with plentiful fine sediment and medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling as a thick surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of intensely juicy hops with hints of grapefruit, orange peel, lime, citrus, white grape, mild tropical fruit, grass/hay, earthy yeast and subtle caramel malt. Deliciously hoppy.
Tastes of powerful aromatic hops with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, white grape, grass/hay, very earthy hops, harsh stewed leaves, cardboard and mild caramel malt. Highly attenuated, followed by a strident, hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and lightly tingly, with subdued carbonation and decent body. Could be a shade more effervescent. Pretty astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops, acrid stewed leaves and earthy yeast.
A decent pale ale, though the aroma trumps the rest of the experience. Looks OK, with an amazingly fruity hop aroma that tantalises the tastebuds. The flavour is slightly less agreeable, with fruity hops notes but an excess of dry yeast and some harsh leafy hints. Body is alright. A solid effort but not outstanding. Worth trying if you come across it.

Pours clear honey-coloured into a glass from a bottle. White head is small - one finger - creamy, frothy, and lingering. Aroma is leafy, hoppy with a vegetative bitterness and slightly rubber quality. Flavour is slightly more bready than expected but still there is the stewed hops, the grass, the citrus peel and the bitters on the back end which lingers in the back of the throat. The body is light and slightly oily with normal carbonation. Overall, it's alright; a standard, quite bitter, sessionable IPA.
