This is our bold Imperial IPA, made for lovers of the hop. We enlist Simecoe, Warrior, Citra, and Amarillo hops to create this wonderfully bitter and aromatic brew. With the strength and courage of a War Dog, this brew does not back down. This brew is dedicated to the War Dogs that serve alongside our brave troops.

Big Dog's might have been the first beer made in Nevada I ever had, back when they were located on the Strip.
Anyways, first time I came across this was at the Bistro's 2006 double ipa festival when it was made by Dave Otto.
Came in a color somewhere between amber and orange. 1/2" white head. The recipe has evolved since then, now it has Citra hops.
Taste was a slightly below 100ibu kind of double ipa from that era, not super huge on the crystal malt, but you know, it was there. I believe the consistent hops used from the start were Simcoe and Amarillo. Usual dry bitter notes and that mix of citrus from orange, grapefruit and a bit of a hay/grass note as well. I'd have to say over the years its been my favorite from them. Since went through an evolution over the years as many recipes do, would be nice to see perhaps a tweaking of the malt bill, seems like all the rage is getting rid of that crystal malt and doing something lighter, or even hazy/flaked oat/wheat thing. Why not.

An amber color with a one finger head. The clarity of the beer is good and a decent amount of carbonation. The beer did present with some lacing on the glass.
Huge hop profile, floral, grapefruit, citrus (lemons/oranges), herbal, and pine. A decent malt backbone with toasty notes, and some biscuit notes in the background.
Big hop profile grapefruit, oranges, lemons, herbal, pine, and floral. Decent toasted malts and biscuit.
Medium body, medium high carbonation, and a lasting finish.
A good beer but not great, for me the balance in the beer is lacking. I was expecting more; the hop profile is awesome, but the malt backbone lacked sturdiness.

Really good DIPA. The aroma is not so strong but the taste is amazing! The hops and malts compliment eachother very well. This has that dank-like taste thats killer in ipa's. Definitely will be trying other brews from them. Poured into a frozen stein, hazy-golden color with a 1/4 in head.

Pours a clear golden color. Has a malty aroma with notes of light hops. Flavor is clean, has nots of citrus with a malty backbone. Has a nice mouthfeel with a bready like quality. Overall a solid IPA
