Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Libbey Stout/Porter glass. Nice looking dark porter with average head. Smells of roasted malts. This beer has a very smooth and creamy mouthful without being heavy. Has a sweet taste up front with some chocolate notes, and finishes with a roasted, slightly smoked malt aftertaste. A very solid porter. The mouth feel is what stands out here, I think the oatmeal does wonders for this brew. Really impressed with what Zipline has one. This will be my go to porter moving forward.

Yup, definitely an oatmeal beer. So smooth. It could be hard to pick apart from an oatmeal stout, drinking it blind. This beer has more of a milk chocolate character and less roast, like a porter should.

from a 12oz bottle

pours very dark with a substantial dark tan head that borders on creamy, this is a DARK porter, very pretty

good, with roasty malts, dark coffee and hints of citrus, but comes through only weakly

really delicious, deep dark roasted malts are backed up by bitter chocolate, dark fruit and a wee hint of sharp cigar smoke

mouthfeel is exactly right for a porter, light yet substantial, gentle smooth carbonation

overall a very fine porter, hits all the targets without trying too hard, oatmeal richness makes both taste and mouthfeel excellent, my favorite from Zipline

full disclosure - reviewed as impartially as possible from a sample given to me by the brewers

I bought a six pack of these so I hope it's good. I'm trusting you, BA'ers!

Appearance : Pours a pretty dark brown-to-black molten chocolate color. No transparency. The head is beige and starts off at 2 fingers, receding to a small ring within a minute's time. There's little to no lacing left behind on the glass until it gets down to the ring.

Smell : Oatmeal, Karo syrup, bakers' chocolate, a b urn of liqueur. Bouquet is medium strength. Nothing too exciting here.

Taste : Strong alcohol burn right at the front, which is strange considering its measly 6% ABV. Beyond that is unsweetened chocolate, oatmeal, milk and cream, and dry root. Some earthy flavors are left on the palate afterwards.

Feel : It borders on a light oatmeal stout in its depth and creaminess. This, I like. It's very present, sticky, and ends dry.

Overall : I'm just gonna say this much - it's not real great but for $7.99/six pack it's better than most beers at this price. Notice I said most, not all. It's okay, worth a try. Maybe it will catch me on a better day and I can rate this higher.

Zipline makes a wonderful oatmeal porter! This is one of their best. It's nothing too special, but I could drink it again and again. If you're ever in LNK, you must go to their brewery!

Poured into a tulip glass from a 12 oz bottle.

Pours very dark with minimal head. Reddish coloring near the edge if you hold it up to a bright enough light. Very pretty.

The aroma is malty, with a bit of smoke and chocolate. Also detect some coffee and toffee notes, especially if you let it warm up a little.

The taste is not bitter, very smooth, and has a clean finish. Light mouthfeel when served very cold. Let it warm up a little and its complexity really becomes apparent.

Overall, a great porter.

Poured from a 64oz Growler into a Pint glass, a small light brown creamy head about one finger thick sat atop a nice dark brown almost black brew for a few minutes. You could smell some chocolate and coffee hints and just depth as a Porter should have, taste held the same except a surprising tobacco after note as it warms...never tasted tobacco before so it was interesting. Creamy and rich mouthfeel was nice and overall a great local Porter that was fresh and to the point.

Sampled back on 9/19/13. Picked up a single bottle as a 'make your own 6' for $7.99. Cooled down to 36 degrees in my beer cooler and pours into a brandy snifter glass. This new brew pours a dark black in color with a very small tan head. Left good lacing when sipped. The aroma is of roasted malts and coffee. The taste was pretty much the same except with a hint of dark chocolate highlights. A very smooth brew actually with no harsh or bitter aftertaste. Will be a great brew for the cooler months for sure.
