Tasted at the brewery's official launch party. This is a vanilla coffee porter.

Appearance: Dark brown to black with small off white head.

Aroma: Coffee with a hint of vanilla

Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied. Not a heavy beer and just enough dryness.

Flavor: Roasted coffee and malt come together for a nice balance. No hop detectable and the coffee seems at the just right level with no astringency probably due to the cold brewing. The vanilla is a background player so along with a fairly light, dry mouthfeel it avoids being sweet or cloying. This is a beer focused on roasted malt and coffee and it has a good balance.

Pours a nice black, light brown head, good lace. Nice roasted coffee nose, chocolate, toast. Sweet malt taste, with nice coffee and chocolate, mild bitterness. Medium body, bit of creaminess. Good carbed.

Great little coffee porter from a nice new local brewery!

Appearance: Near jet black with two fingers of frothy khaki head that fade quickly, leaving some nice lacing.

Smell: Coffee first, some vanilla as well and a nice roastiness. What I'd expect from a coffee porter, a bit of chocolate too.

Taste: Nice and sweet up front, and the coffee is really dominant. Also a bit of lactose-like sweetness. Reminiscent of coffee milk, some more vanilla thrown in.

Mouthfeel: Relatively light bodied on the palate for a porter, low bitterness, but quite creamy. Could benefit from more body.

Overall: A nice porter from a local brewery. If you like coffee-forward beers, this is definitely worth a try.
