500 ml bottle poured into a weizen glass.

Cloudy, meadlike honey color with a one finger white head with moderate retention. Fruity, floral aromas similar to a cherry blow pop. Lots of sweet fruit flavors going on up front, sour cherry, rose water, cotton candy/bubblegum, with a smooth malty middle and a dry light finish balancing out the sweetness. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated, the dry balanced finish reduces the overall sweetness of the smell and early taste to bring about a very drinkable beer.

Lighter than I'd expect. Relatively solid head that heald about an inch for a few minutes. Malts come through. A good amount of sweetness. Reminds me of a chocolate factory actually. Smooth.

My first Alt bier. Very nice.

It's yellow with a white head that dies down fairly quickly.
Aroma is mostly malt.
First taste is surprisingly clean. The flavor hits the tongue and disappears almost immediately. Kind of sour, but in a good way.
Nice carbonation and mouthfeel.
Very drinkable.

1pt, .9fl oz brown bottle. no date found.

pale golden straw, almost clear. some head, but fades to wispy layer. nice lacing.

aroma of toasty malts and noble hops. hint of white grape or yeasty esters.

similarly malty and toasted flavors with classic noble hops. gentle to moderate bitterness. clean finish with flash of more malt and even a trace of acidity beforehand.

light, but smooth. moderate, spritzy carbonation.

paler than i've come to expect of alts, but manages to retain quite a lot of malt character.

Lightly milky lemony gold that appears to clear only with bright backlighting. The head is a half shade darker than pure white and stays at two fingers long enough for me to appreciate its tight-bubbled, abundantly pitting nature. So-so lace in thick random scraps.

Munster Alt has an austere nose of flowers and fruit--pear blossoms and pear skins--that is delicate yet substantive. That's a good description of the flavor as well. There's less fruit on the palate (some peachiness now), but orchard fruit peels still come to mind. The floweriness takes on more of an herbal character, although what herb is hard to say. The relatively light body/mouthfeel hangs on long enough to provide a gentle, lingeringly sweet finish.

Pinkus Munster Alt is an easy drinking beer that has as much flavor and body as it needs to have and no more. It's a well-crafted package that is impressively quaffable and it 'alt' to go well with a multitude of foods, as long as they aren't strongly spiced or flavored. I don't see much wrong with this one.

I believe that this is my first altbier. Picked up fairly cheaply at my local store. Pours with an assertive 3 finger frothy white head which sits upon its golden body. Nose has notes of malt and also a pleasant sweet floral aroma. Initially a huge pale malt taste smacks you in the face before slowly fading into flower notes and a subtle, sweet finish. Drinkability is very nice on this one. I must get some more alts to try. I'd love to see how this would be fresh.

A nice "Organically Cloudy" golden amber color, the head large and frothy, the resultant lace a fine latticework to coat the glass. The organic musk is quite noticeable, the malts and a nice crisp tone also present, and start is quite sweet, the top middling in feel. Finish is a bit tart and the acidity biting with the hops plentiful and the aftertaste dry and long lasting. I’ve really gotten quite fond of these organic unfiltered beers; they have a certain appealing earthiness.

Single bomber bottle copped from Gary's in Madison for $2.75...
Very different than your average Altbier, with a pronounced mustard and butter flavor, very unique with a strong body and flavor to match...
Pours a hazy, murky hue with rising carbonation and a significant amount of lacing...
Smell: Replete with bread, butter, carmel, and slight sugars...
Taste: Flavor strongly complemented the aroma, and as mentioned before, had a mustard-like aftertaste, with bread and butter on the tongue as well...
Good, creamy mouthfeel along with a great level of drinkability...
Certainly a different-style beer...
Worth a try...

Hazy body, golden orange in color with a thin yet persistant film of white foam. Sweet, fruity aroma with a musty, yeasty touch. Flavor is sweet and malty with a herbal note and light, hoppy finish. Well balanced and very drinkable. Rich, substantial mouthfeel.

Pours medium yellow with a foamy white head. No lace, moderate retention (about half a glass before gone).

Grassy notes with some herbal aromas, some light malt.

Nice light malt, with some sweet grass and bitter herb. Dries out a bit, and you get a grassy bitter bite. Clean brew with a nice bitter and light malt finish.

Nice light body, decent carbonation.

What more can you ask for from a brewer. This is terrific and refreshing brew. Nice job.

The Munster Alt pours a straw clear yellow with a solid 2 finger foam head in a pilsner glass. It left some tight bubble foam lacing. A good looking beer. No freshness date.

The aroma was malty and grainy. It was chewy malt most of the way through. It has a little zest in the finish with a slight hop bitterness. It had a lemony taste as it finished. Overall it was refreshing beer after a balmy spring day.

Poured from a 16.9 oz dark brown bottle, small label on neck proclaims "Organic".

Pours a very light (almost whitish) pale, cloudy yellow, with a lasting, sticky, foamy white head.

Aroma is a reminiscent of a healthy breakfrast cereal, grains, oats, some sourish citrus notes in there as well.

taste is fairly mild, malty and slightly sour and sweet at the same time. very slight hops become noticeable on finish as it warms up.

Not bad, not bad at all.

pours a surprisingly light color, peachy gold and quite hazy. Head is big and frothy, quite inviting overall, though so far it is far from what I'd expect from the style.
Aroma follows suit. There is big fruitiness here. Orchard fruits, some citrus, suggestion of doughy malt before hops and more likely yeast takes over. If blindfolded I'd have said this was more like something using the Fullers yeast strain than an alt.
Flavor continues the fruitiness. There is a honey-ish sweetness like a fresh peach to the flavor with moderate tartness in the finish. Moderate bitterness though it doesn't really linger. It's not particularly clean with a mildly sticky sweet fruit flavor coating the palate, again at odds with what I'd expect. Not particularly caramel-y either.
Carbonation is medium low, body medium, drinkability high after I quit trying to figure it out and just enjoyed it.

As a general beverage this falls somewhere between good and excellent. As an alt, I can't see how I'd even rate it as average. I shall have to do more "research" on this beer!

Dim peach. Constant 1/2" skim. Frothy 'latte' head.

Nose is fresh, clean, and slim. Faint suggestions of lemons, various other citric elements, hay, grain, and cream.

Tastes comes on very slowly and smoothly; grain, rainwater, wildflowers, mewn hay. Little sweeter than expected.

Mouthfeel is silk-smooth, and endlessly drinkable.

I've been gravitating towards well-built, subtle beer styles in the summer and this fits the bill perfectly. Went down fantastically while watching the sunset on the porch.

Into a half-liter mug, this beer is a very pale gold with a moderate head. Crystal clear. Sweet, grainy malt aroma. Good malt flavor for a light beer, like the best Helles. Balanced by a light-to-medium bitterness that dries out the sweetness, and adds a touch of floral hop character. Fruitiness is low but detectable. Light bodied with a crisp character.

Very drinkable beer, light but tasty.

Pours a pale golden amber with a copious quantity of puffy white foam floating on top. Aroma is sweet grains and some bubble gum and cherry fruity notes, along with another earthy or perhaps musty element. Bready and quite sweet on the palate, with some breakfast cereal, popcorn and toast, classy floral hops and an emergent citrus note, orange I would say. Pleasantly assertive but not overpowering hops. Rather fruity. Light thin body and moderate carbonation. For some reason I am surprised that this is so appealing. More sweet and gentle than my conceptualization of the alt style but a great session brew, with enough complexity to hold one's attention.

A - Poured from a bottle into a perfect pint glass. Thick lacing, golden-orange color.

S - Yeast, sweet bread, spice and citrus.

T - Grain, grassy hops, some sourness, sour and grainy aftertaste.

M - Light body but nevertheless good mouthfeel.

O - A very interesting, flavorful and drinkable beer.

Pours light orange with a small white head that fades quickly, slightly cloudy.

Smells of pilsner malt, some sweetness, and floral hops. Light and delicate aroma like some pale ales.

Up front floral notes that move into a small honey/bready taste and finish with the slightest hint of noble hop bitterness.

Light bodied, smooth, and slightly dry. It is very easy to drink.

This is a subdued beers in many ways but subtle and tasty. Overall it is floral and bready. Some more complexity would go a long way, still I could easily drink several pints of this.

500ml

Pours a transparent yellow orange color with a thin white head. Sweet malts, grainy and lightly toasted, although slightly muted, the floral hop character creates the aromatics of a large pilsner. Crisp and bright in flavor, great balance. A little thin on body, bubbly, but very refreshing. Sure its not true to style 100% per say but a damn good beer, especially now in the summer time.

A - Slightly hazy blonde body, on the light side for an alt bier. No head or lacing present.

S - Sweet Riesling, raw honey, malt sweetness. Once again, a big presence of honey sweetness in the aromas.

T - Sweet malt base but not terribly rich or luscious. A lighter malt sweetness that is paired with a steady presence of honey. Light, filtered honey. Some chewy grains around, with a wet/metallic sort of bite to it.

M - Very drinkable, a light bodied alt, with a pleasant feel. Mildly carbonated.

O - A pleasant beer, I could see taking down a handful of these.

500 mL brown bottle with no freshness code on it. Pours a mostly clear light gold color with a full three-fingers worth of fluffy white foam. Retention is excellent, as is the lacing. A bit lighter in color than expected, but it is a really good looking beer.

Smell is grainy and rye bread maltiness with a fair shot of grassy hops (Hallertau?). Malts continue to develop as it warms into some nice sweet caramel and toffee notes. Pretty big nose for an alt.

This is a pretty refreshing and tasty brew. The malts are slightly sweet and crackery. Hops provide enough balance and even a bit of hay-like grass flavors. Mouthfeel is a touch on the thin side and it is not exactly a complex beer, but its a nice drinker that I wish was cheaper and sold in six-packs. A good sessionable beer.

Interesting dull gold with a nice foamy/frothy head and trails of sliding lace. The aroma is faintly of yeast, malt and hops. The malt is lightly sweet with a trace of herbs. Lightly lime-like citrus hops with a hint of cloves. The alcohol peeks through from time to time. Becomes sweeter and more evenly balanced throughout. This is a gulpable beer. I kept raising my ratings as I drank it.

( Served in an Imperial pint glass)

A- This beer pours has a hazy golden orange body with creamy white head that last and last. The carbonation is a slow gentle note of tiny bubbles.

S- The notes of dry pale malt with a slightly sweet caramel malt note. No real note of hops. As it warms the smell of fresh malt and a slight earthiness comes through.

T- This beer has a dry pale malt and biscuit note that is soon followed by a bright fruity almost orange note. The finish has a slight green noble hops bitterness. As it warms the orange note has a slight nutty quality to it.

M- This beer has a medium-full mouthfeel with a slightly thick texture that is note really creamy and not really watery.

D- This is not what I was expecting in an alt. The bright fruit notes are nice and adds more depth. The malt flavors are light but complex with fresh grain qualities that are refreshing.

Picked up a 17oz bottle from my RT 8 Giant Eagle for $2.30.

A - Color is a nice hazy yellow, almost orange with a 1/2 inch of bubbly white head.

S - Tons of lemon and grass with some grains and a touch of caramel like sweetness.

T - On the palate it's sweet and grainy and to me almost has a sour apple like note mid palate. The finish has some hops and a sweet caramel malt.

M - Light to medium a good beer.

Overall this is a great German Alt. If I ever go back I will have to pick up the pils.

Germany's oldest organic brewery has quite the extensive selection in the Organic Market. Pours out an "untypical" Altbier color of light honeyed amber. Light carbonation makes a nice light fluffy head. Looks a bit like a Keller bier.
On the nose--tart lemon, musty grains, touch of orange, lightly sweet-apple,pear, grape.the sweetness is nicely cut by the blast of mineral, grain, and fresh grass.
Flavor is reminiscent of a Berliner Weisse. Lemon, acidic, light, nicely carbonated, and just the right amount of creaminess to balance. this finish is long and lingering with pepper, honey and lemon.
nice, light tart and refreshing. Maybe not a typical Altbier but tasty nonetheless. I'll be living near Munster soon, so looks like I'll have lots more in my future Cheers
