500 ml bottle. Poured a light amber color with a sizable head that receded quickly. Some fine lacing on the glass. Aroma is light malt and hops. Tast is smooth malt with a little sweetness and a nice hop finish. Very good carbonation and very refreshing. Another beer I could drink all night.

Pours a light gold with a thin white head. Head retention wasnt as good as expected but there was minor lacing. Has a strong lemon smell with a bit of cider. Taste was better than I expected. Lemon and orange up front with a yeast/musk ending. Mouthfeel was good with light carbonation.

This .5l brown bottle of Pinkus Münster Alt poured a hazy blond to gold color, definitely unexpected for an Alt. It had a thick fluffy white head which dissipated slowly leaving a slight lacing. Fine bubbles evolved from the sides and bottom of the glass throughout.

The Aroma was dominated by toasty, bready clean malt. Spicy noble hop aromas were also evident with a slight earthiness reminiscent of wild mushrooms.

The flavor profile was dominated by clean bready malt, but contained fruity, floral and citrus elements as well. Hop bitterness was mild but assertive and the hop flavor was of spicy noble hops. This beer had a relatively dry finish with lingering bitterness and a slight hint of earthy wild mushroom which came out late.

The body of this beer was lighter than expected… it had a light mouthcoat and a light degree of carbon dioxide bite.

An unusual Alt to be sure, Pinkus Münster Alt was not what I had expected, but was a great beer none the less. Organic and unfiltered… this beer was full flavored and enjoyable.

Transcribed from undated notes.

The pour initially netted a massive two fingers' worth of rocky, bone-white head that settled into a marshmallow Fluf-like consistency. Color was a beautiful straw-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose was light, slightly sweet, but quite tempting. Mouthfeel was medium with a very dry quality on the tongue. Finish was totally, bone-dry. Man, this would be fantastic in the summer.

Poured a hazy light golden color with moderate white creamy head. modest lacing. Smell is summer fruity, with some citrus (lemon) notes also present. Taste follows through on the taste with a nice fruity sweetness and stronger lemon tastes. At the finish a fine hop bitter bitterness begins to come through, which proves to be a fine ending for this beer. Not quite what I was extecting, but still a very enjoyable beer.

A - Straw colored, dramatic white head that dissipates as quickly as it appears.

S - Sweet malts and earthy muskiness.

T - Very sweet and floral with a honey finish.

M - Lighter than expected, very pleasant.

D - I had no idea what to expect with this one. I expected something much darker and rougher but was given a sweet surprise.

Pinkus Münster Alt has a thick, foamy off-white head, a hazy, somewhat bubbly, yellow-golden appearance, and a fairly heavy amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is of very aged, cellared, over-ripe light fruit, dank grain, and mold, plus sweetness and an unusual hop zing. Taste is of those things, plus lemony sweetness, light bitterness, biscuit, and water. Mouthfeel is light and watery, with some carbonation prickle, and Pinkus Münster Alt finishes lager like- crisp and refreshing. Overall, this is a very different beer, and I would recommend it to the adventurous types.

Poured a dark straw hue with a one and a half finger frothy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a light cereal grain, some esters and some fusel alcohol.

The taste consisted of a soft grainy malt, some lemon zing and a grassy hop.

The mouthfeel was toward the lighter sid eof the style.

Overall a tasty very drinkable alt.

A: Medium gold and a tiny bit cloudy. Head diminishes quickly.

S: Dominant scent is of spicy German hops, and a little malty smell to back it up. Otherwise, not terribly aromatic, but Alts just aren't.

T: Clean and fresh. Flavors are subdued and balanced. Nothing jumps out and grabs you but the balance. Not quite as much of a caramel flavor as other alts.

MF: Very light bodied and mildly carbonated.

D: Very drinkable. This would be a great session beer on a hot day. No real bells and whistles, though. Do all beers need bells and whistles? I have to continuously remind myself that the answer is no.

Organic "monster" alt is straw yellow in color and slightly. It is nicely carbonated. The head dissipates quickly. The flavor is straightforward -- nicely malty and clean, just a bit sweet with a pleasantly lingering aftertaste. Overall light but flavorful and well balanced.

A: Golden straw color that is pretty cloudy. White head that dissipates to a collar pretty quickly. Not really any lacing.

S: Very malty. A little bit of a sweet grassy/earthy tone.

T: Very malty again, not too surprising. Some sweetness to it. Apple juice? Nice crisp finish

M: Medium body. Pretty light carbonation.

D: Awesome drinkability. Very refreshing.

I can't remember ever having an alt beer before let alone an organic ale. I was pretty impressed.

This was much better than I was expecting it to be. Everything else I have ever had from this brewery, I didn't care for. It poured a yellow/orange colour with a bit of chill haze, and a white head that seemed to vanish in about 40 seconds; white patchy webbing and a thick white ring around the edges remained. Smell was all sweet malts. Almost smelled like a bowl of breakfast cereal, actually. Taste was sweet cereals all the way through, with a bit of a sourness right at the finish. Mouthfeel was smooth and very easy to drink. Refreshing. I'm very glad I tried this offering from an otherwise dissappointing brewery. A good brew, for sure.

Poured from a bottle into a stein glass.

Look – slightly pale golden color, clear, with slow carbonation and about two and a half fingers’ worth of just barely off-white colored foam that dissipates fairly quickly.

Smell – interesting smell, it’s very spicy, but I can’t tell which spices are being used. Slightly more on the hoppy side, perhaps using Saas hops?

Taste – much like the smell, it’s an interesting taste, perhaps not quite like anything I’ve tasted before. There’s a bit of a muskiness, but it starts off with a sweetness. Still very spicy, but I can’t identify it.

Mouthfeel – the Mouthfeel is fairly solidly on the watery side, but not so much to make it less interesting.

Overall – very intriguing brew! I wish I could figure out more about the taste and what’s in it.

Bottle into tulip glass.

I haven't had many altbiers, so this is a pretty raw assessment. A: Light gold, pretty clear, light puffy head that died down after a minute or two. Very clean. S: A lot going on here, very sweet but a lot of dry grains on top. T: A bit thin at first, but it really comes alive after a moment. Grains, citrus, floral qualities. Very nice. M: Very smooth, moderate carbonation. D: I could drink this beer all night. It's been a very hot summer so I've been looking for some interesting lighter beers, and this fits the bill nicely.

Poured into a large goblet gives me a pale straw brew with good carbonation and a white head that doesn't leave much lace.

The aroma is musty, earthy, with some grainy malts and a little floral hops.

More grainy malts in the taste. Not too sweet, with some nice floral and herbal hop character. Moderately dry finish.

Mouthfeel is light, and very clean and crisp with a slight fizz from the carbonation.

On a hot day this would be a fantastically thirst quenching beer. I think I could knock a few of these back in quick succession. The organic aspect is a big plus in my opinion.

Pours clear gold with a nice, two finger head. Delicate smell of floral hops.

Crisp grainy flavor that has an interesting twang in the finish. A touch of lemon and citrus, followed by flowers and earth mid-palate. Super easy to drink, light-medium bodied. Carbonation is good for style. Really tasty and -- without any doubts -- a great session ale.

A delightful alt beer. I've grown to expect alt to appear darker, but I can totally take a pass at this because of its flavorful goodness. Great on a humid summer eve with a nice cheese plate -- would probably be wonderful with grilled sausages.

Pours a mostly clear, pale yellow body with a soapy, vanilla head that retains well and produces a lot of patchy lace. Active carbonation is very apparent in the glass.
Aroma is subdued, with very floral blossomy hops.
Mouthfeel has a light medium body and sparkling carbonation.
Taste is well balanced, with floral and citrusy(orange and grapefruit) hops and a biscuity and bready malt.
Nice taste, excellent balance, and wonderful drinkability.

( Served in an Imperial pint glass)

A- This beer pours has a hazy golden orange body with creamy white head that last and last. The carbonation is a slow gentle note of tiny bubbles.

S- The notes of dry pale malt with a slightly sweet caramel malt note. No real note of hops. As it warms the smell of fresh malt and a slight earthiness comes through.

T- This beer has a dry pale malt and biscuit note that is soon followed by a bright fruity almost orange note. The finish has a slight green noble hops bitterness. As it warms the orange note has a slight nutty quality to it.

M- This beer has a medium-full mouthfeel with a slightly thick texture that is note really creamy and not really watery.

D- This is not what I was expecting in an alt. The bright fruit notes are nice and adds more depth. The malt flavors are light but complex with fresh grain qualities that are refreshing.

Picked up a 17oz bottle from my RT 8 Giant Eagle for $2.30.

A - Color is a nice hazy yellow, almost orange with a 1/2 inch of bubbly white head.

S - Tons of lemon and grass with some grains and a touch of caramel like sweetness.

T - On the palate it's sweet and grainy and to me almost has a sour apple like note mid palate. The finish has some hops and a sweet caramel malt.

M - Light to medium a good beer.

Overall this is a great German Alt. If I ever go back I will have to pick up the pils.

Bottle from local grocery store. no fresh by date. By the state of it though i suspect that its fairly aged. poured into a pint glass

Inch pearly white head sticks to the glass. Golden yellow

Smell is very interesting Herbal and grainy. with maybe a little apple in the background

taste is mild and sweet but musky. Taste like pear bread and butter. lots of yeast and a tiny bit of hops at the end

lingers on the tongue grainy and thick

I haven't tried many organics. This beer is a nice start. Very pleased.

a:light golden color chill haze that never cleared. medium carbonation. large bubbled thin white head that was short lasting. lacing on the low end.

a:lemon/tart. german pilsner malt . oddly sweet tea-like aroma. not much hop aroma but what is there is floral. some roasted/munich? malt

t:moderate bitterness. pilsner malt with slight rusty oxidation. some yeasty esters. mild tart(wheat?). minimal hint of sulfur. floral hop flavor is low. lingering pilsenr graininess.

m:medium body and carbonation with slight oiliness. mildly dry finish.

o:mild oxidation skews my perception. pilsner quality is initially offensive and then savory.
expected more color and haze is not to style.
an enjoyable beer and ive not had many alts but adds to my growing list organics that i'm not dying to have again.
