Clear golden stereotypical lager look with ample bubbles and a white head that falls down quick but sticks around for most of the drink drink before falling apart.

Grain, earth, honey, yeastiness, grass, and lemon.

Lots of grain the flavor. The earthiness also plays a big role in the flavor. It's got some breadiness to it. There is some subdued lemon flavour as well.

Light to medium body and crisp. There is a mild tartness about it. Slightly drying.

The beer poured a hazy golden color that produced a very nice, fluffy, white head that was retained very well and settled into a thin cap that lasted throughout the beer. Excellent presentation.

The beer produced a nice grainy aroma with a nice compliment of yeast. Pretty much as expected, but I was hoping for a slightly stronger aroma.

The taste of the beer is excellent; a grainy taste with a slight hop bitterness and some of the yeast baked in as well, but the beer leaves a nice grainy/sweet aftertaste. There was nothing in this beer that was overpowering, just a good solid taste.

The beer had a medium body to it, with a clean, crisp feel, which made the beer extremely easy to drink. Overall, this is a world-glass beer and one that I will enjoy often.

A- pours a pale straw color with a small white head and very little lacing.

S- grainy and malty, straw, and a bit of faint hops. Pretty earthy.

T- grainy malts, with a very earthy, barn yard like taste. Tastes like a tangy straw, meets forest floor. Finishes with just a bit hops linger.

M- light body, medium-high carbonation, crisp.

O- an interesting beer, very earthy and raw. I don't know of the organic part has anything to do with that but it's definitely intererting.

A - Cloudy golden in color, with a thick white head that fades to a thin coating.

S - Slightly sour aroma, a little funky even.

T - Sour, funky, slightly grainiy.

M - Light to medium, lots of CO2 sharpness.

O - Not bad at all, but I wouldn't want much of it.

Bottle into tall pilsner glass
A – 4 finger white fine bubble head settles/coarsens at a moderate pace to a thin layer w/ no lacing, brew is a very pale light yellow 3
S – Granny smith apples, fresh fruity sweet aroma is crisp & light, milder floral and malt notes 4
T – Subtly sweet bitterness with mild florals, an almost hefeweizen like wheat quality, nicely built and well balanced 3.5
M – Light body with a mild dryness, carbonation was needed to give this mild profile some body but was almost fizzy 3.5
O – A much lighter alt than I am used to, refreshing, a very drinkable & sessionable beer I enjoyed but not my favorite of the style, may pick this up again for a summer time thirst quenching session 3.5

I think it was funny that this beer was labeled as organic. Almost every craft beer uses higher quality ingredients.

Overall this was a very drinkable beer. None of the flavors are too challenging or over-the-top distinct. You get caramel notes and some hef quality. I get a little bit of banana.

Pinkus was decent, but I am not really going out of my way to get another bottle.

Poured from a bottle into a stein glass.

Look – slightly pale golden color, clear, with slow carbonation and about two and a half fingers’ worth of just barely off-white colored foam that dissipates fairly quickly.

Smell – interesting smell, it’s very spicy, but I can’t tell which spices are being used. Slightly more on the hoppy side, perhaps using Saas hops?

Taste – much like the smell, it’s an interesting taste, perhaps not quite like anything I’ve tasted before. There’s a bit of a muskiness, but it starts off with a sweetness. Still very spicy, but I can’t identify it.

Mouthfeel – the Mouthfeel is fairly solidly on the watery side, but not so much to make it less interesting.

Overall – very intriguing brew! I wish I could figure out more about the taste and what’s in it.

A - Slightly hazy blonde body, on the light side for an alt bier. No head or lacing present.

S - Sweet Riesling, raw honey, malt sweetness. Once again, a big presence of honey sweetness in the aromas.

T - Sweet malt base but not terribly rich or luscious. A lighter malt sweetness that is paired with a steady presence of honey. Light, filtered honey. Some chewy grains around, with a wet/metallic sort of bite to it.

M - Very drinkable, a light bodied alt, with a pleasant feel. Mildly carbonated.

O - A pleasant beer, I could see taking down a handful of these.

Incredibly cloudy golden colour, with a rocky head of pure white, extremely fine carbonation. Bubbles are obscenely fine, almost like powder as it forms. Body is light and fine. Looks decent.

Nose is bright, but slightly yeasty, with honeyed organic characters, giving a fresh but sweetly underfermented oomph the the aroma. Smells either slightly too sweet or slightly too strong. Either makes me feel uncomfortable.

Taste is crisper and lighter, and it drags it back to the realms of sensibility. There's still certainly a big robust sweetness that gives it an unpleasant malt character, but there's at least a crispness to it that lends it sharp maltiness. Still, there's very little balance, and it's too sweet, but it's at least better than I expected.

Too sweet. To be honest I'm far from a fan, and I don't believe it's a particularly good alt. It's smooth and somewhat drinkable, but depressing in it's expressibility.

Travelled a long way to visit the brewery - and it was worth it (Munster is a great town and Pinkus a great brewery).

Everything says lager about this beer until it hits the back of the palate. A nice fruitiness, slight tartness and a general depth of flavour and complexity emerges from this beer. From the brewmasters mouth, its a simple pils base, with an alt yeast and some PH manipulations to get some tartness.

Top beer, very very drinkable.

Pours light orange with a small white head that fades quickly, slightly cloudy.

Smells of pilsner malt, some sweetness, and floral hops. Light and delicate aroma like some pale ales.

Up front floral notes that move into a small honey/bready taste and finish with the slightest hint of noble hop bitterness.

Light bodied, smooth, and slightly dry. It is very easy to drink.

This is a subdued beers in many ways but subtle and tasty. Overall it is floral and bready. Some more complexity would go a long way, still I could easily drink several pints of this.

oxidized and no head. color was not what i was expecting slightly sweet, nutty and fruity.
Nice medium bodied beer, but the typical alt color was missing this beer is a yellow peach color, not the typical brownish porter color of the dusseldorfer alt which I am accustomed to enjoying.
I may have gotten an old beer. I'll certainly keep my out for it in the future and give it another try. Clearly they are doing something right by the other reviews. I fear I just got a bad bottle of this stuff.

A: very cloudy, hazy. Color is a dirty, ruddy dark gold/bronze. Small thin diminishing head. Doesn't look like an alt, and worse, is not pretty to look at.
S: if I didn't know better id think I was smelling a hefeweizen. Very yeasty w/bananas and spicy cloves-or butterscotch? Just weird and seems off.
T: medium sweet bready malts and again tastes kinda like a hefeweizen. Manages to finish almost dry despite an almost undetectable hop presence.
M: thin and a bit watery. Could use more frothiness and fullness.
O: not at all like any alt I've had and just not good, to my taste.

A- Cloudy yellow almost light orange body with a small white head.

S- Light sweet honey malts, almost a strawlike aroma.

T- Honeyed malts, very light malts almost seem watered down, a touch of light hop presence like a bit of spice. Light lemon which gives a refreshing quality to this brew.

M- Very light body, highly carbonated.

O- Decent alt, Ive had much better, would pass this up if I saw it again.

First off, it doesn't look like an alt, I'm used to Hannen and Kutscher alt, instead of the usual dark amber it is a cloudy pale gold.

Like I've said before, my nose doesn't work too good so I can't comment on the smell.(no, I'm not a coke head).

Now it comes to taste. It doesn't taste like the alts I'm used to, but it's still a pretty tasty beer, not something I'd drink on a regular occasion but a not unpleasant change of pace.

I don't know, I lived in K-Town so maybe there is a difference between southern and northern alts but for an alt, I much prefer a Hannen to the Pinkus.

I just noticed this beer at the downtown Spec's in Houston, so I HAD to pick one up since AltBier is one of my all time favorite styles. I hope that this one leans toward Duesseldorf.

Appearance: Pours the lightest color i have ever seen an Altbier. It looks more like a koelsch being slightly cloudy with a small white head that maintains as a small cap and reserved lacing.

Aroma: I initially got some sweet toasty malt with some light caramel notes and a bit of metallic. The hops are coming out more after the beer has sat for a few minutes and is taking the place of the metallic in the aroma. Some dry biscuity aromatics coming out as the beer sits further. The hops are playing a very supporting role in this beer, and the aroma is a bit more reminiscent of a Helles than an Altbier. So far, this beer is all over the map.

Taste: There is a little more bittering in the flavor than the aroma suggested. The malt is still the main player and there is a bit of sharpness to it as if they sparged the grain too hot. The toasty notes are the biggest player, but the hops are noticeable. The carbonation is quite low and the beer is medium to light bodied, so this makes it come across the palate quite watery. The finish has some hops, but is owned by the malty sweetness and toasty notes.

Opinion: Unfortunately I was disappointed in this beer in that I was really hoping for an Altbier. This is not that. It is a pretty decent German beer, but not even a Northern Alt would work here as it is too light and has too much of some things and not enough of others. It is an OK session beer nonetheless, but the fact that it is grainy makes it a bit hard to just sit and drink. I have one more bottle of this beer that I will drink pretty soon, but I doubt that I will be buying any more of this beer any time soon.

Appearance: Straight pour into a 500 ml glass (I cannot remember what it is called). I should have tilted the glass when pouring; a massive and thick eggshell colored head developed and dissipated slowly, leaving trails of foam along the glass. The color is a hazy straw that is leaning toward honey. There was a film of yeast at the bottom of the glass, which I swirled loose and poured in.

Smell: Merchant du Vin says the aroma is "herbaceous," which I agree with. (Nice use of a thesaurus.) German barnyard aroma, honey, warm buttered biscuit, lightly toasted malt, and lemon citrus.

Taste: Mirrors the smell. The herbaceousness is complimented by the honey, buttered biscuit, toasted malts, and lemon citrus. It also offers a hop nip at the end.

Drinkability: Very smooth and drinkable. Though I don't think it is true to style, it is really tasty stuff.
