500 ml bottle. Poured a light amber color with a sizable head that receded quickly. Some fine lacing on the glass. Aroma is light malt and hops. Tast is smooth malt with a little sweetness and a nice hop finish. Very good carbonation and very refreshing. Another beer I could drink all night.

Passed this beer by hundreds of times but finally decided to give it a try. It poured a pale straw color with a huge head that disappeared very quickly. There was some kind of a fruit (raspberry?) odor to it, creating enticement. I get a full malt blast in the mouthfeel. The actual characteristics of the beer come out full blast in the finish, where the real taste lingers. I sense lots of earthy toned flavors intertwining. Somewhat fruity, but subtle and definitely grainy. At the conclusion, you are left with a very bitter twang in the back of your mouth. OK, but I wouldn't seek it out for the price.

Pours a light gold with a thin white head. Head retention wasnt as good as expected but there was minor lacing. Has a strong lemon smell with a bit of cider. Taste was better than I expected. Lemon and orange up front with a yeast/musk ending. Mouthfeel was good with light carbonation.

Pours straw yellow with two finger white head. A little light for a Dusseldorf Alt? Perhaps in Munster Alts are lighter in color. Nice floral aroma. I detect some butterscotch and citrus in the taste. Malt is medium and finishes with a nice citrus bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and drinkability good. I could drink several of these-good for a warm summer niight.

500 mL

Appearance – gold body; erupting white head settles to moderate level; lace was average

Smell – wheat and yeast; German pilsner with less metallic/acid tone; low tone of spice

Taste – slightly hoppy but bigger grainy malts that run to the close; follows the nose rather closely

Mouthfeel & Drinkability – lightly crisp; clean; moderate body; ‘afterfeel’ was pleasant

The Munster Alt isn't a standout beer, but to gain a sense of the altbier, go for it.

Appearance: Cloudy dark yellow. Off white head with some staying power. Adequate chunky lacing.

Smell: Very fruity. Earthy lemon with a touch of banana. A bit of floral in the aroma.

Taste: Similar to the nose. Starts off strongly herbal. Goes to a grainy sweet malt with touches of lemon/peach. Finish is tart.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with an effervescence carbonation.

This is a nice alt. Fairly light and refreshing. I could definitely throw back a few of these. Another well done organic brew.

Brewed with up to 40% malted wheat in the grist, this Alt is very different than the class ic Dusseldorfer Alt.

Poured from a 16oz brown bottle (no freshness date) at cellar temps. Cloudy light amber (dull pale colour). A tight 3 finger head head formed which left decent laceing on my ale glass. The aroma was mainly tart with a background maltiness. The large proportion of malted wheat gives this alt a very tart taste profile. Some sweetness from the malts can be detected in the middle, and the finish was a bit sour and dry. The body was thin. Very little hop character.

This Alt is more akin to a poorly brewed American Wheat or Berliner Weiss. It displays none of the characteristics of a classic Alt. For lovers of classic Alts, please avoid

Bottle into tulip glass.

I haven't had many altbiers, so this is a pretty raw assessment. A: Light gold, pretty clear, light puffy head that died down after a minute or two. Very clean. S: A lot going on here, very sweet but a lot of dry grains on top. T: A bit thin at first, but it really comes alive after a moment. Grains, citrus, floral qualities. Very nice. M: Very smooth, moderate carbonation. D: I could drink this beer all night. It's been a very hot summer so I've been looking for some interesting lighter beers, and this fits the bill nicely.

500 ml bottle. Poured into a cylinder glass.

A: Deep golden-blond color and slightly hazy. The head is somewhat fizzy, yet substantial and white. Lacing was pretty good as well.

S: Has delicious fruity and flowery qualities about it. Also present is a dry crispness from the pale malt. Absolutely gorgeous nose on this one.

T: Starts with an ale-like fruitiness and is complemented by a slightly chalky, lager-like crispness. Pretty sweet, but not overly so by any means. An intriguing blend of flavors.

M: Fairly light-bodied, but substantial enough. Decent carbonation and the finish is slightly sweet and slightly dry.

D: Goes down so smooth and easy that it would be understandable if one lost track of how many of these he/she has had.

A very solid, delicious brew. At first the flavors reminded me of many different styles, and given what I've read, it seems that this beer is lighter (in color anyway) than most altbiers. Nevertheless, this one is infinitely drinkable and tasty. I could see this being a good gateway beer. I'm not sure how its being organic factored into the taste, but hey, it's organic (for what it's worth)!

Organic Munster Alt was a transluscent cloudy gold color. It had a good full head and the lace was decent. The aroma was a bit floral with hay and metalllic elements. The taste was dry, metallic, and citrusy (lemony) with some sweetness. It also had decent hop bite and good carbonation. A little yeastiness led to a dry, bitter finish. Not a bad beer and one worth trying again.

Poured from a 16.9 oz dark brown bottle, small label on neck proclaims "Organic".

Pours a very light (almost whitish) pale, cloudy yellow, with a lasting, sticky, foamy white head.

Aroma is a reminiscent of a healthy breakfrast cereal, grains, oats, some sourish citrus notes in there as well.

taste is fairly mild, malty and slightly sour and sweet at the same time. very slight hops become noticeable on finish as it warms up.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Pour from 17 oz bottle

A-Little head on top of golden beer. Carbonation very apparent bubbling up side of glass
S-Sweeter malts, wheat
T-Bready Pilsner without as much hop bite. Kind of a strange sweet taste to me. Hard to describe-Some interesting flavors but not when put in combo together
M-Decent mouth, not too much carbonation
D-Just didn't enjoy it enough to order more than one, but wouldn't turn down one offered.

Overall, probably just not a style for me, but i'm glad I sampled it.

This was pretty disapointing. The beer poured well, although I was wondering about the color. The head came out rocky and well formed, but the brew itself was too pale.
The aroma was nice and fruity (tangerine and apricot) but not enough malt. As I remind myself that this is not an American alt, I suppose that this is not entirely inappropriate, but it was a little offputting.
The taste was well-balanced as such, but fairly insubstantial and fairly watery, as was the mouthfeel.
The self-same attributes lend well too a high drinkability, as does the minimal carbonation.
I was hoping for an earthier, maltier alt, but you live, you drink, you learn.

Poured right into a tapered pint glass from the bottle. The puffy head disappears within 10 minutes. Smell very yeasty in the way of a typical German beer. Very cloudy and hard to see the bubbles rising. I took this beer out of the fridge to allow it to warm up a bit. A yeasty/ citrus like taste that lingers on the palate. Very drinkable and interesting.

A: Medium gold and a tiny bit cloudy. Head diminishes quickly.

S: Dominant scent is of spicy German hops, and a little malty smell to back it up. Otherwise, not terribly aromatic, but Alts just aren't.

T: Clean and fresh. Flavors are subdued and balanced. Nothing jumps out and grabs you but the balance. Not quite as much of a caramel flavor as other alts.

MF: Very light bodied and mildly carbonated.

D: Very drinkable. This would be a great session beer on a hot day. No real bells and whistles, though. Do all beers need bells and whistles? I have to continuously remind myself that the answer is no.

500 ml. bottle poured into a stange.

A: Pours a light golden/straw-color with 2 inches head. Slightly cloudy. Good carbonation.

S: Some hops and citrus. That's about it...

T: Hops and malt. Really tastes a lot more like a pilsener than anything else. Not too much flavor.

M: Clean and crisp. Goes down easily, but that might also be because it hardly has any taste to it.

D: Not too impressed with this one. Easy to drink, but isn't anything special.

Drinkability: Excellent drinkability.
