Another from my first days of trying new beers, and not having sampled in a long while.

A -- Hazy pale straw with a creamy white head that settles slowly. Since this is "organic" I wonder if it's filtered or not. The haziness reminds me of Kellerbier, but not a straight Pils.

S -- Spicy to citric hops. Small amount of bready malts, but pretty lean.

T -- Light, spicy hops. Some mild bready malts and a finish of herbal hops. The hops linger lightly into the aftertaste with some light malt sweetness.

M -- Soft to dry mouthfeel with a light medium body.

O -- A pretty lackluster Pilsner. Another rather disappointing example from a brewery that was once a sought-after import.

Pours a very hazy straw color yellow with enough bubbles rising to the top and a creamy head of bone white foam that left good lacing. Nose is exactly what it should be. Yeasty, with a sour twang. Little citrus and some grain and bready malt. Taste was flat and I will say that I thought it might be old. There is a freshness code on the bottle but not in date form and in the store I just bought it anyway. The taste was a little too smooth. I would say tame and it just wasn't crisp. The yeast had plenty of bite on the nose but that did not translate into the drink. It was even a little chalky in the middle and a bit drying. It had all the other elements of a good pils. It had a light lemon, little bit of grass and a soft bready malt. Finished almost dry but muddled overall. Mouthfeel was so soft that I thought it out of the ordinary for a pils.

I was a bit disappointed but I would say to try this one anyway. It's organic and it could simply be that this bottle was not fresh.

Served from a bottle.
Pours with a typical pils appearance, but with a weak head.
Aroma: Light malts and grains with only mild spicy hops.
Flavor: follows the nose: this is mild even for style.
Overall: a solid but unremarkable pils; well crafted but just too tame.

look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Appearance: misty golden-yellow body with a two finger white head that stays around for a while and not much on the lacing front; champagne like bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass

Aroma: grains, white bread, fresh and clean

Flavors: sweet grains; buttered biscuit; herbal-mineral water; little grassy on the back and aftertaste; lime water on the finish

Mouthfeel: firm carbonation; sweet up front; grassy feel lingers on the palate; light tart-twang on the finish; the tart-twang is reminding me of lime water;

To the Point: a very tasty German Pilsener;
