This beer pours a cloudy pale yellow. With a thin head that fades very quickly. The beer gives off aromas of orange peel, butterscotch, honey, and wheat which lead you to believe this will be a good hefe. Well the gig is up. The taste is thin and watery. If they made a Hefe-light this would be it. There are citrus and wheat flavors, but the middle and finish is so watery you forget all about them. I haven't tried any other organics so I don't know if it is because it is organic or just not a great beer.

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 2 | overall: 2

Appearance - Yellow-white body. Perfect white, one finger head that has moderate retention and broken lacing.

Smell - Not particularly complex for a hefe. Smells like orange, lemon, grass and nut.

Taste - Very plain for a hefe. Almost like it was spliced with a bud light. Finish is way too dry and watery.

Mouthfeel - No creaminess for a hefe.

Drinkability - One of the more boring hefes, but if you're crazy about Organic stuff, then maybe this is the compromise you have to make.

Bottle Inspection: Nothing useful on the label

Aroma: A mild citric note with very mild hints of malt. Very neutral aroma

Appearance: Hazy, but not cloudy yellow glass with a thin cover of white that left a touch of lace

Flavor: Very mild taste. A little wheat flavor, but almost a macro lager overall taste. No clove or banana notes.

Mouthfeel: Medium light body with medium carbonation

Overall Impression: Forgettable. Thirst quenching I guess, but just not much here to report. Seriously rousting the yeast toward the end help intensify the taste a bit, but still, a weak and watery hefe.
Thanks to Pegasus for the sample.

look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 2.5

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear golden color with a reasonably fluffy head that leaves a few strands of lace; looks more like a pilsner

Smell: Lemony and chalky; smells a bit like Pez

Taste: A bit of a wheat bread flavor up front, but then we move into the lemony flavor; not too much banana and even less cloves; after the swallow, the flavor is rather bland except for the lemony remnants in the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: There are not too many organic beers that have impressed me and this is certainly not one of them

500ml bottle poured into Weisse glass 9/1/12

A murky peachy orange with lots of bubbles feeding a fast falling two finger head that leaves no lace

S soggy cereal and sour lemon

T as it smells really with a little spice but not much for the style, perhaps an old bottle because this is not quite right for a Hefe

M light bodied with enough bubbles too give it some life, grainy aftertaste

O this one didn't really do it for me, looks average and not the typical Hefe flavors and smells

pretty average stuff, I doubt I'd bother with this one again

The weakest German Hefe's I've had. Nice clouded golden look with a decent head and all that. The smell was clovey to me and a lingering citrus with a subdued wheat charateristic. The taste was a standard wheat with only mild hefe yeast notes. The mouthyfeel was just so and it was drinakable in the not really bad sense, just not realy a "Hefe" to me. No thanks.

Poured from a pint bottle into a weizen glass on 03.02.14.

A: Yellow. Typical opaque yeast cloud at the top of glass. More see through at the bottom. 1/4 finger head.

S: Lemon with some bitterness.

T: Tangy lemon dominates. Wheat is there too. There's also a strange funk or skunk flavor.

M: Smooth. Watery.

O: This wasn't a complex hef. It was too watery and had no yeast flavor. The funk or skunk quality almost prompted me to drain pour it, but I held on and didn't get sick afterwards. Maybe it was a bad batch. Based on what I had, there are many better hefs out there.

Pours a yellow gold with a decent white head with adequate retention. Smells of banana, spice, and sugar cane. Not bad there, but something's off with the taste. Oranges, malts and furtive coriander exist but are thrown off by a weird tartness. Otherwise there's just not much going on here with this light bodied hefe.

500mL bottle at refrigerator temperature poured into a snifter.

A - Slightly hazy golden body with a less-than-robust head. The bubbles bunch along the sides of the glass as it dissipates.

S - Banana, sage, clove, a touch of pepper, sweet bread. The fruit notes stand out most prominently. Nothing particularly surprising or exciting here.

T - I find this brew to be kind of bland and watered-down. It's not unpleasant, but it's kind of boring. I taste a bit of malt and a slight touch of banana, but really not much else.

M - Along with the taste, this beer just feels watered-down. It's not as crisp and refreshing as other German hefeweizens I've tried. Again, it's not unpleasant to drink, just not exciting in any way.

D - I can see sitting around with friends on a warm summer night drinking this with some pub food. For me, it's the kind of beer that you can drink and enjoy without thinking about it. Just don't expect any esoteric enjoyment out of a glass of this brew. I won't seek this beer out again, after this tasting.

A very dull / pale pour. Very little head. Looks almost watered down.

Has a zesty fruity aroma. Tastes ver dry, yeasty with a lemon finish. Not a'beer worth savoring. However, an easy beer to drink with a hefty meal. After taste is minimal with lemon being the dominant flavor

A: This beer had a pale yellow color and a cloudy consistency. Poured a buge amount of head and had some OK lacing.

S: There was a weak smell, kind of wheaty, kind of grassy. Never really committed.

T: To me, the taste was a little on the thin side. While you get a bit of wheat, there's an unwelcome grassy quality about it. This makes the beer kind of funky, something I don't crave in a hefe-weizen. Aside from this, it was just very watery and uninteresting.

M: There was a fair amount of carbonation and kind of an oily finish. Medium-bodied.

D: This isn't a particularly drinkable beer in my opinion. The taste is decidedly thin and just plain blah. This is odd coming from a German brewer of hefe-weizens.

This one looks pretty average for a hefe. It is a hazy yellow and the head faded away rapidly. It just doesn't look very lively to me.

I get more of a euro pale lager smell than a hefe smell here. It smells grassy and has a bit of mustiness to it. Disappointing.

The taste is not too exciting either. I get the impression that it has the base of a hefe but all the good parts never made it in there. It is a grassy and tart. Really gives the impression of a lager more than an ale.

The mouthfeel is alright, light to medium bodied with less carbonation than I would expect for the style. Inoffensive but less than impressive.

This is the kind of beer I would expect the masses to cling to. Not much to it really. Throw a lemon on the glass and serve it ice cold, they'll make a mint.

A - Nice sized white head with little retention on a hazy yellow body.

S - Aroma of wheat with a slight bubble gum note and a bit of pepper.

T - Sour wheat, some pepper. Not a lot of yeast character; pretty weak overall.

M - Thick body, high carbonation, and a sweet finish.

D - Pretty dead and sour. Not pleasant. I don't know this to have been mistreated, but for the sake of the brewer, I hope it was a bad bottle.

Poured a murky yellow (more murky than cloudy) yellow - highly carbonated - and more transparent than most others of this style. It had a fizzy white head that became a spotted lace.
The smell was a bit thin, but did have hints of lemon, clove and some yeast.
The taste was of lemon and yeast, but was too thin. Water was predominant. It seemed like a beer version of a wine spritzer. the carbonation came through and seemed to interfere with the flavors.
A fizzy lemon feel stuck on the tongue for awhile, but there was no bad aftertaste.
The high carbonation and lack of anything offensive made it drinkable for the one bottle, but it is not something that I would seek out again, as there are more substantial, flavorful examples of this style for the same, or less, price.

Pours hazy, a bit on the pale side, sort of a light peach. Head is well-formed, foamy white. Subsides into a nice cap.

Aroma well on the fruit-and-yeast side, very little spice; wheat is discernible, and mild banana. In the mouth, mellow and sweetish, some background citrus, cooling and foamy. Not a lot in the banana/clove department. A little bready yeast.

Just doesn't do much for me. Gulpable, even quaffable, but don't ever tell me any given German hefe is better than any given APWA...

A - This beer poured out lookin funny to me...an off brownish grey? or something? it looked nice n thick with a thin head that vanished with the quickness

S - it smelled like the style should though nothing special...rather sweet yet kinda faint..

T - a bit metallic and not bold enough for me like something was missing from it ...rather sweet like the smell, it follows the style well but it just doesnt have enough flavor to be considered great...the aftertaste isnt all that wonderful either

M - Typically fizzy and ...just something about it isnt right..i cant put my finger on it...it just doesnt stand out...leaves a dry feeling

D - i will probly drink this one pint and be done with it but it was worth the experience

Poured a clearish pale gold body with minimal head and not much lacing into a hefe glass.
Some faint notes of pepper and citrus mixed with earth tones/grass for a not very outstanding aroma. Too smooth for my liking, as this seemed a little bit watery and bland. The beer just rolled over my tongue w/o registering much. There was some citric notes and smoothness from wheat (not even a little sweetness though), combo'd w/ a dash of spice but a rather generic hefe compared to others. I didn't really enjoy this beer that much and I won't be buying it again.

Light straw color with considerable haziness and light carbonation. No sign of yeast sediment. Topped with fine, foamy head that lasts a little while but eventually fades to nothingness. Smell is rather weak and not overly enticing--some basic, sweet grain notes and maybe a twang of alcohol. Taste is similarly uninspired--sweet until a bit of hoppy dryness and alcohol warmth at the end. A bit of spicy bite is present too. Mouthfeel is smooth but watery. I expect a lot more from a hefeweizen, including the crisp flavor and texture this one lacks.

Not that interesting, thineer and less yeasty than most German wheats, a bit more lagerish i think, not a lot of banana flavour in there, which i like in my German wheats.

This Organic Hefe-Weizen pours a semi-hazy yellow with light carbonation, virtually no head. Nice light smell and a basic hefe-weizen taste. Nice mellow finish that is typical of a good hefe. Can’t say that this one sticks out any better than the rest but does hold it’s own. The Pinkus Brewery does provide a good solid beer no matter what the style.

A - Pale yellow and slightly cloudy. Nice white head to start. NO lacing. At all. Not even a bubble.

S - Slight apple cider aroma. Not much else going on here.

T - Slight apple cider taste. Super clean. No aftertaste whatsoever. No evidence of clove.

M - Thin and light.

D - Quite sessionable. Due to its clean, light taste, it would be suitable for drinking after a hard day's work outside in the blistering sun.

Not a great beer, but OK.
