The classic orangey, dusky amber color. Very handsome in the tall tulip with an adequate foam. Sharp and spritzy on the tongue. Smooth mouthfeel.

Rather sweet to start with an acidic and bitter edge. The sugar is just about right as the bitter hops kick in. The aromatics are intense, with gardenias, resins, and a dose of grapefruit peel. It's like alcoholic orange marmalade, the bitter English kind. While this flirts with all kinds of excesses, it's quite sippable.

Overall, a pleasant tangy big beer with a nice hot burn, both from the hops and the booze. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Special Brews in Lynnwood, Washington.

22oz bottle at 41 F poured into a big snifter. No dates that I can see. To start off with, with a little pumped about an imperial red right now. Just the idea sounds really good.

Pours a dark amber with strong reddish overtones. Medium head that fades fairly quickly. Clear. Very fine carbonation. Smell is caramel, pine, and flowers.

Taste is more caramel, pine and bitter. Unfortunately none of the flowers come through, but a nice strong bitterness helps it out a lot.

Mouthfeel is very dry. Overall, it's good. It's hitting the spot for a hoppy red.

Pours a clear, deep copper with a creamy white head of dense, small bubbles. The retention is strong and so is the lacing. Makes for a pretty beer. The malt is strong with this one, mostly cracked wheat and Rye with a healthy dose of green hops: piney and citrusy, but mostly earthy. Flavor is much like the aroma, baled bread with some metallic flavor I often get from Reds, followed by soapy bitterness that's also nectar and slightly citric. Finish is balanced, as is the feel. This one doesn't really stand out, but its solid.
