Our friends at GRINDHOUSE CAFE, based in Griffith, Indiana joined us in the search for the perfect coffee to blend with HUNTER, our creamy Double Milk Stout brewed with Cocoa Nibs and Lactose...And we found it... Metropolis Coffee Company's Signature Blend ‘Redline Espresso'- a big bodied espresso that pairs perfectly with HUNTER'S Roasted notes.

I really enjoy the sweetness and coffee on this one. This is a tie for my favorite Hunter variants.

650ml bottle. Served in a snifter 3/4/2015.

A- Dark brown, opaque and nearly black body with a one finger offwhite head, some lacing, average retention.

S- Roasted coffee bean aromas, lots of it. Sweet lactose, a bit of milk chocolate and roasted malt in the background, but this is dominated by the coffee and milk.

F- Solid lactose sweetness that complements the roasted coffee here. Milk chocolate and coffee, what could go wrong? A very solid milk stout.

M- Medium in body, silky smooth mouthfeel that is reasonably drinkable with a nice depth to it. Mildly bitter, roasted coffee flavours on the backend.

O- Nice coffee forward milk stout. I liked it and it was a nice changeup from all the sour beers we had today.

Served on tap at 18th Street Brewery in Gary, IN on Friday. Brewery was relatively empty -- nice!

A: Opaque black, some light comes thru
S: Smells like coffee. A little burnt, but still a good roast
T: Initial flavor is coffee with some cream. I'm a black coffee drinker, but the flavors come thru nicely
M: Light mouthfeel, like most milk stouts
O: I would recommend this. The BA version was also fantastic, but this is a very well made coffee stout.

Appearance - The beer was black with a dark mocha colored head.

Smell - This one smell of coffee, but you could also detect a certain level of sweetness in the aroma.

Taste - The taste begins with bold coffee. However, this is more than a mouthful of coffee grounds. The sweetness balances the bitterness. Ultimately, the beer has a pleasant dry finish.

Mouthfeel - The smooth creamy nature of the mouthfeel give the impression of Nitro. Nice!

Overall - I have loved many beers from 18th Street. Barrel Aged variants aside, this is my favorite.

L - Black with deep brown mocha head. S - Amazing aroma! Like coffee is brewing fresh in the glass with a little cream sweetness. T - Black coffee starts and then balances with lactose sweetness. Coffee bitterness lingers as it finishes dry. M - Creamy, but feels like it would be better with a little more viscosity. O - I wish this was made into an air freshener. Excellent balanced coffee stout. Thicken up and maybe a bit hotter will up he rating for me. Three more left to age.

Poured from a bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint

A. Very dark brown/black opaque pour with a dark khaki brown, 2 finger head with nice lacing. As it subsides it just leaves a film of khaki head on top.

S. Roasted malts, medium/dark roast coffee, chocolate some vanilla. Smells mocha. Really good. Alot of this stout comes out in the nose and i'm anticipating tasting this more than most stouts.

T. Backing up the nose this is delicious. Coffee and chocolate up front followed by a nice espresso roast flavor with a slight bitterness. This is really nice.

M. Very nice medium/heavy body for a stout. 7 out of 10 on a scale. And there is carbonation but just enough. Doesn't really chase the swallow but sits on your tongue. Excellent.

O. This is just an excellent stout. One of my top 5 for sure. I will definitly look for this again. the brewer accomplishes what he/she was looking for being it's called "Coffee Hunter" They flavors are blended so well. Looks great. Smells extremely inviting. Mouthfeel is almost perfect. I like this stout alot.
