Pours a cloudy, deep amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, caramel malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit and pineapple, as well as some herbal, resinous notes. Taste is a great balance of biscuity, caramel malt and herbal, earthy, slightly resinous, fruity and floral hops, with light citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit and pineapple, with just a hint of pine and red berries, as well as undertones of pumpernickel bread and spice. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some grapefruit, pineapple, pine and rye malt lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While 18th Street are not doing themselves any favors here by describing this as "bone-shattering juicy", which it's not, I still rather enjoyed it for what it is, just like the previous beers that I've had from them. What this is is a very malt-forward, East Coast DIPA with strong caramel and rye malt undertones, yet a firm bitterness, while the hops are more on the herbal, earthy, resinous side, with some fruity citrus, tropical and berry notes coming through as well though. I really like that spicy pumpernickel bread rye character and while the malts stand tall here, there's still a good overall balance to this with the bitter, herbal, earthy hops that suit the rye character of this beer very well.

Appearance: WIth a volcanic bubble show, the head rises to a full three fingers crowning the clear amber liquid; impressive retention with webs of sticky lacing
Smell: Juicy fruit gum, kumquat and pine with spicy rye tones
Taste: Juicy fruit gum and honey forward with spicy rye tones developing; the hops arrive mid-palate bringing bitter kumquat and pine; bitter and herbal finish with some underlying malty sweetness
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: This is an old-school DIPA with the malt and the hops both assertive and in balance

Canned on 04-01-21.
A - Pours a slightly hazy dark gold color with very vibrant white, creamy/soapy lacing with light carbonation.
S - Light sweet malt aroma with delicate tropical fruit aroma.
T - Light berry and passion fruit with a light, delicate pine bitterness on the ending.
M - Big and full medium body that's borderline heavy with soft prickles migrating to a soft finish on the palate.
O - The alcohol is well hidden but the aroma and taste are really lackluster. (Sorry to say.) Only five weeks old in the can but may have lost some personality as it sat? I'll give this one another try if I find it fresher but this is the freshest of any 18th Street IPA I've ever seen on the shelf. (I bought this in Northern Indiana.)

Very pretty amber gold beer that threw a 1 inch head of rocky, whipped cream foam. Sheets of thick lace draped the glass.
Aroma is pleasingly malty with floral hop notes mixed with steeped grains, melon and pear.
The flavor is a balanced mix of light caramel malt sweet and a subtle, leathery hop bite. Unique fruit notes of melon and cantaloupe, sweet rolls with white icing and maybe some figs or raisins.
Bittering is firm but not harsh, malt is rich and delicious without being heavy or over sweet. Balance.
What is remarkable is this drinks much smaller than 8%, the body being a little thin for a 2XIPA. Alcohol is well hidden even on the finish.
This finish is a bit disappointing having only a mild, lingering hop aftertaste and little sweetness. That part is unremarkable.
The rest is just good, well made beer in the traditional IPA way. No oat gloop - not flocculent murk - no puckery citrus character just tasty barley malt and hops in complimentary combination.
