Went to union market one weekend to get some lunch and buy spices. Noticed the new, tiny beer and wine place in the back by the butcher. The takeaway here is that it's not worth going.
Staff is friendly but misidentified style and origin of the beers. The stock itself is very small, as the store is tiny and predominantly dedicated to wine. The selection is basic with a few interesting bottles, but they are not worth it. Saw spring seasonals and 4 month old founders all day ipa. They had one bottle of mother earth window pane.
Big negative for me.is the absurd prices. Over 30 dollars for the bottle of window pane! The spring seasonals were on "sale" and had been marked down to about 20% above typical prices in DC. The staff didn't know enough about beer to even realize how high the prices are.
In all this place is like the rest of union market: pretty but lacking substance, and preposterously expensive given that similar options are more convenient to get to for a fraction of the cost.
