A-red amber color with a decent off-white head and some lacing

S-malt, fruit, slight citrus, pine, hints of caramel

T-caramel malt, pine, fruity, citrus, slight herbal, moderately bitter finish

F-medium body with moderate carbonation, smooth

O-enjoyed this amber ale, good flavors and a lot of fruity qualities with a nice hoppy bite

Had a 12 oz sample at the Capital Ale House today for $3.00. Reviewed from notes.

Beer served amber red with a nice white head.

Nose was aromatic with citrus hops.

Taste was a bit uneven; a big caramel malt base that was overtaken by a tropical citrus hop.

Mouthfeel was medium bodied that was not overly carbonated nor smooth.

Overall not a bad beer that is worthy of a shot. The citra hops are nice but i am not sure it works effectively here.

Honestly, I know that officially this is an IRA (Imperial Red Ale), but as far as I am concerned and for all intents and purposes this beer come in 2nd on my IPA list right now, just behind Ruination from STONE.

It just has everything a good IPA should have, aroma, color, depth and complexity of taste, and of course a 110 IBU count, it however also mixes in a few traits of the red ale style to balance it out. This beer comes in at #4 overall on my personal beer list at the moment. LOVE IT.

On tap at the Cellar in Blacksburg, Va. Listed as an imperial red ale. Nice red appearance. A very mild and subdued aroma. A hop bomb, the name is accurate. Bitter up front with a sweet malty undertone, excellent balance. Above average mouthfeel, not too thick and not to thin. Excellent ale overall, more like a double IPA. Good stuff.
