I took a bit of a risk with this beer and bought a growler before trying it and man am I happy with that decision.

Appears dark black with absolutely no light shining through. One finger of head when poured, but it isn't retained very well.

Smells good, but nothing amazing. Just a tiny bit roasty with definite notes of chocolate.

Tastes great. It's pretty sweet, but not boozy at all. Perfect amount of chocolate, with hints of toffee.

Lightly carbonated. Doesn't coat the mouth as well as it could.

This one I had on tap, poured into a tall thin glass. Not very much head but I will blame that one on the tender. Hard to pick up the smells while still cold. However the flavor was delicious. Sharp and bitter up front. Dark dark roast qualities. It doesn't have the silkiness of the imperial stouts. More body and crispness to it. It's a pretty dark color, mahogany extra dark. The finish presents some chocolate flavors with a creamy aftertaste. As it warms up u start to pick up the chocolate and a bit of the roast.

Pours a dark brown with a one finger mocha head that faded slowly into a thin cap with moderate lacing.

Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate.

Taste of strong dark chocolate, malt, hints of coffee and a slight toffee sweetness. As the beer warms a light citrus flavor comes out.

Mouth Feel is medium body, light carbonation, smooth and rich.

Overall a nice sweet stout, if you are in Virginia it is worth a taste.
