The subtle malt backbone combats the bitterness and intensity of floral, grassy and citrus hop flavors. However, taste is perception. What's your slant?

Canned 1-7-2016. DFH Tulip.
Appearance: Slightly hazy gold with 1 finger white head. Active, visible small-bubble carbonation. Fair retention, keeps a little skim with a white ring around the edge and islands of bubbles in the middle.
Aroma: Familiar lemon-lime hoppiness, some resin, then a floral/tropical character; perhaps mango. There is a floral malty quality to this that smells, not kidding here, like a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky.
Taste: Immediately dry, bitter, clean arrival. Light, super crisp malt across the middle, then a strong, but not overpowering hop bitterness finish. This is less bitter than expected. I'd put it around 50 IBUs. Not sweet in the least, with lots of citrus, then pine hop resin and lingering light bitterness. The hop bitterness really shows up on the tongue after the swallow, not before. Very strange.
Mouthfeel: Heavier side of light; active, but not overpowering carbonation. Pretty damned clean, if I do say so myself.
Overall: This is a super crisp and refreshing West Coast style IPA. Reminds me of (gasp!) Sam Adams Rebel. But this has a less fragrant nose than Rebel and WAY more bitterness on the end. An excellent light/summer IPA, similar to, but less bitter than Mystic Mama, more bitter than Rebel, less tropical than White Rajah. Definitely six-pack worthy.

This mid-level west coast IPA is piney, dank, floral, and has some nice citrus notes.

This is definitely an above average IPA unfortunately there's also a huge chunk of those in this country too. I'm not surprised this isn't selling too well right now but honestly I would recommend.

Pours a deep golden color with two fingers of dense white head.
Aroma of citrus and pine. Orange peel, something tea like, and some nice sweet malt notes.
Flavor is dank and nicely bitter highlighted by grapefruit citrus. Malt is barely noticeable in the taste.
Smooth and well balanced. Carbonation is lively.
Overall a very good West Coast style IPA with nice hop flavor and bitterness that is very drinkable.
