On tap at Madtree tap room, poured into snifter.

Pours light apricot, with a thin off white head. The nose is filled with huge amounts of tropical notes, pineapple and mango being the biggest. Some bready malts are in there as well. It is a very good smelling beer.

The taste is equally as good if not better. Bitter tropical hops right up front. Pineapple is at the forefront, along with some orange and hints of lemon zest. Back of the mouth gets some sweet mango, along with a slight biscuity malt. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full bodied. It coats the palate well. ABV is hidden very well for a 10.2%.

I must say I'm not a huge fan of Madtree's canned options, but this is a great DIPA. They need to put this bad boy in 4-pack 16oz cans immediately. Or at the very least make enough to give growler fills at the brewery. This one is worth seeking out even it might be a drive.

Poured from a growler into a Goose Island tulip. The pour is murky and orange with a pronounced hop haze. It sports about a finger of fine white foam that dies down to a clumpy lace. The nose is decidedly citrus-like and fairly sweet with lots of fresh pineapple and ripe peaches.

Medium-full body with a hoppy, yet balanced flavor. Substantial malty flavors greet you up front, providing ample sweetness to withstand the orange-rind bitterness of the galaxy hops. The end result is a hodgepodge of fresh bread, honey, orange candy, and grapefruit. The finish is delightfully bitter and lingering, while the heavy malt load gives an extremely creamy feel.

Galaxy High is an Imperial IPA worthy of the makers of PsycHOPathy IPA. It's big, bruising, creamy, and dripping with hoppy goodness. Hopefully, MadTree will someday can or bottle this so more BAs can have an opportunity to try it.

I'm sure this is said about a certain beer in every city by the people in craft beer circles, but I'm gonna say it anyway- this beer taste like Pliny The Elder. Plain and simple. Pretty much anyone reading this can relate to a statement like that. If you're chuckling to your self, or rolling your eyes, you're only missing out.

Unfortunately, this brew isn't packaged, but if you should find yourself in greater Cincinnati, do yourself a favor and find yourself a "better" beer bar- the natives here know what's up, and it's on draft at most places.
