At Galaxy High, the beer has 120 IBUs, 10.2% ABV yet finishes nice and dry. Join two Australian hops as you encounter a crazy collection of tropical and dank flavors throughout this Imperial IPA. It’s big on your palate… disruptive even. Think 'trophic cascades' disruptive.

On tap at Madtree tap room, poured into snifter.

Pours light apricot, with a thin off white head. The nose is filled with huge amounts of tropical notes, pineapple and mango being the biggest. Some bready malts are in there as well. It is a very good smelling beer.

The taste is equally as good if not better. Bitter tropical hops right up front. Pineapple is at the forefront, along with some orange and hints of lemon zest. Back of the mouth gets some sweet mango, along with a slight biscuity malt. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full bodied. It coats the palate well. ABV is hidden very well for a 10.2%.

I must say I'm not a huge fan of Madtree's canned options, but this is a great DIPA. They need to put this bad boy in 4-pack 16oz cans immediately. Or at the very least make enough to give growler fills at the brewery. This one is worth seeking out even it might be a drive.

So smooth for an imperial. Piney and bitter to start then it mellows out to a fruity and smooth finish. It definitely lives up the the hype and name! Living in Cincinnati right now I usually side with the "other guys " (rhinegeist) but Madtree has hit the spot with this one. Blows Saber Tooth out of the water.

12 ounce can, canned on 03/19/2015. Maybe I should say cans since I just drank a couple. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a slightly hazy orange/amber color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention is good, and there's a lot of lacing. The brew smells like citrusy (tropical fruit, mango, orange peel) and spicy hops, bready and caramel malt, and a bit of honey. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some tangerine and grapefruit. The 10.2% ABV is well hidden! There's also a nice bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I think this is a pretty good Imperial IPA, I wouldn't mind having this again in the future. Glad I bought some this morning! $11.99 a 4-pack.

Wonderful citrus flavors. Malty smooth. For a 10% beer, there isn't even a hint of alcohol. A very skillful job by the brewers.

I'm sure this is said about a certain beer in every city by the people in craft beer circles, but I'm gonna say it anyway- this beer taste like Pliny The Elder. Plain and simple. Pretty much anyone reading this can relate to a statement like that. If you're chuckling to your self, or rolling your eyes, you're only missing out.

Unfortunately, this brew isn't packaged, but if you should find yourself in greater Cincinnati, do yourself a favor and find yourself a "better" beer bar- the natives here know what's up, and it's on draft at most places.

poured can 12oz can into snifter.

A - Dirty hazy orange with a 2 finger eggshell head. Retention is really good and it fades to a frothy ring with lacing the completely coats the glass.

S - Very hoppy with bigger orange and tangerine aromas. The malt aromas are bready with some honey. Hints of pine and tropical blossoms.

T - A very nice flavor or citrus, orange, tangerine, and faint grapefruit. The honey and bready malts help give a bit of sweetness. Finish is bitter with pine notes and a slight booziness.

M - Somewhat sticky and resinous with a medium body. Well carbonated.

O - Terrific IPA and it's cool that it comes in a can. Had a few beers from Madtree, and they are doing a magnificent job.

Beer has great flavor, but my can was not carbonated.

So... 1 of the 4 cans I had was not carbonated. This is an excellent beer overall, but I'm not sure how this happened

A - A stellar looking DIPA, with bright yellow orange color, clear, a short white head, tight and persistent, and massive lacing.

S - The nose on this one has extraordinary promise. Tropical (mango) and stone fruit (peach, apricot) mingle with a subtle pine quality, as well as a dialed back wildness that suggests the big hop bomb to come.

T - The taste does not quite deliver on the smell, but it is not that this is an unsuccessful brew. Quite the contrary, the open is a full hop experience, with bitterness front and center, but supporting fruit elements of lemon, mango, and peach to keep things rolling. The middle and close step back on the fruit, with the bitter hop hit running throughout, but now coupling with a light honey element. The close is not overpowering or abrasive, but simply dialing back the bitterness until it fades into the next drink.

M - This is a big beer, but the ABV was a bit hard to find - it was only when I got home from the evening and had a chance to consult its profile that I realized how big a beer it was. The bitterness is slightly drying, but the carbonation and alcohol keep things from getting too taxing.

O - This beer is very good - with a full, delicious fruit nose, and a more traditional American IPA flavor. The feel on this is quite good, keeping everything in balance and drinkable. So well hidden is the alcohol that drinking more than one, though it would be pleasant, could get a bit risky. I'd love to get my hands on this one again.

Unique hop flavor. For being 10% alcohol, this is a very balanced and smooth IPA. MadTree did good.

What can you say about this? Exceptional in every sense. Get this fresh and experience beer bliss. Citrus, hints of honey malt, no alcohol flavor. Very warming. Very dangerous. A beautiful experience.

Very flavorful beer. Most bitter beer of the bottle share. Possibly too bitter for me. Big dank resin flavor. Some pineapple citrus taste. Pretty good.

A- A very turbid pour with a one finger tan head.
S- Citrusy. Orange peel. Great hop presence.
T- Big, boozy-ish, hop bomb. Piney and resiny.
M- Light to medium body and costs the mouth.
D- It is definitely big, but a very flavorful sipper.

Another decent canned offering from Mad Tree brewing.. New to a lot of us due to the recent canning of this gem. I was a little put off by the first can I had but that's why I sometimes wait to review after two. So . . . After three cans (on three seperate nights). Galaxy High is huge with tropical aromas and flavors. Sticky and crisp. Alcohol can be well hidden depending on batch but unfortunately it still finishes a tad harsh. A decent and drinkable dipa . . . Somewhat reminds me of OTWOA. Galaxy High is nice beer but it feels like a beer that is still trying to mature. Pro's . . . I like the aromas and feel. Con's . . . Price and batchy.
