Though the initial excitement has worn off, this place is solid for three observed reasons: the bottle list, the tap list, and the atmosphere. I wish I could add parking. The bottle list because of special European availability, though no longer the European only Cantillons. The tap list because of the great selections of Europe and the USA as well as a good and not overwhelming selection of the Evil Twins. The lower comfortable bar and comfortable major league service. Excitement will surely pick up with the upcoming restaurant.

Can nobody see this place for what it is... the tasting room for a gypsy brewer?

The bar room is over-designed. The herringbone wood inlay that is EVERYWHERE you look gives me headache, and the mirrors above the back bar with the beers written on them is quite possibly the stupidest design element I've ever seen in a bar. You can't read the writing.

Bartenders and crowd are the most insufferable beer snobs you will ever have the misfortune of spending what could have been quality drinking time with.

Different beer styles being poured at different temperatures, although gimmicky, is a good idea.

Now that Evil Twin is being distributed more widely, my advice is to drink those delicious stouts in better bars.

Why a 4.35? Just b/c I can now do that with the new system.
I can see how this bar would be a terrible place to visit if you went on a crowded day.
That being said, the wife and I went on Sunday at noon (literally it was 12:01 PM) and there were two guys there and then us.
They had two bartenders and I must admit that I see where other reviews about some staff "problems" derive from.
The one bartender wasn't a snob but gave off a little 'tude, where the other guy was completely cool and ended up talking to us for the whole hour we were there.
As for the food we didn't eat, but of course the main reason to come is the beer.
What can I say other than the beer selection, while limited to 21 taps at a time plus an extensive bottle list for here or to go, is incredible.
Beyond the obvious multiple Evil Twin choices are some great domestic and international choices.
The pints are priced on average, maybe a little more, than other Brooklyn bars.
The bottle selection prices are high but that's more of an observation than complaint.
Nice place to visit when no one else is around and you want some excellent craft beer.

The bar is amazing and it is a really cool atmosphere. I stopped by here on an early Sunday afternoon to check out the place so there was not much of a crowd. I had the Yin/Yang mix. Really good.

You can also buy the glasses they serve for $15. I bit pricey, but I got one anyway. The only thing that was not up to par was the bartender. He was not friendly when I asked a couple questions about the place. I mean there was literally 6 people there and he was very stand offish. Not what I like to see in a bartender! Asked him a couple question about Greenpoint and his reply was simply "Idk I am from Long Island."

Wish he was cooler, but this bar is definitely one of the finer establishments I have been too.

Cheers!

This bar is awesome. The interior is absolutely beautiful and the beer selection is top-notch. They have great prices on Evil Twin beers, I'm guessing due to the owner's connection with Evil Twin and they allow you to get different size pours, which is something I really wish more bars did. They also had Sucre on tap! What an awesome surprise that was. They have a small food menu as well if you're so inclined. The choices seemed interesting but I didn't give it a try this go 'round. I'm sure the experience on a weekend night is much different than Monday afternoon, but I'll certainly give it a go on some weekend night in the future.

I kind of have mixed feelings for this place.

I first found out about TØRST when I heard rumors that there is a bar in Brooklyn that actually gets Cantillon on tap. Whereas Yelp helped confirm that rumor in my mind, I have yet to succeed in my everlasting quest to try Belgium's best lambics and gueuze on draft outside of Belgium.

My grudges against Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø's inability to procure some of the world's rarest brews regularly on tap aside, there is always something here for any beer enthusiast to try; the fact that the beer selection is supervised and directed by a "ghost brewer" who contracts out to some of the US' finest and up-and-coming brewers (Westbrook, Stillwater, Three Floyds, Prairie to name a few) means you're always going to find something here you probably won't expect to see in other bars.

The price point can be a little steeper than most bars in the Greenpoint/Williamsburg areas, (thanks to my fellow BeerAdvocates/RateBeer members and the faux-hipster-beer-geeks for that) but the Brooklynite-by-osmosis Dane has done quite well with TØRST and I've yet to have a bad experience here; if anything else, they always seem to have Imperial Biscotti Break and Lil' B on their state-of-the-line draft system, so if you like seeing good beer flow out of cool looking taps that look like they just magically appear out of a wall... there you go.
