A - clear, see through amber with a thin cap of dense, white head that lasts for a a few minutes

S - piney, earthy, faint citrus, light malt character

T - creamy, a bit lactic, earthy, piny, some underlying fruit, bitter finish

M - medium bodied, crisp, well carbonated

This is the first beer I've had from this new brewery. It has the makings of a good IPA. The flavor profile is rather simple. The malt is present but doesn't offer much flavor. The hops are mostly earthy and piny and create a moderately bitter finish. Unfortunately, there is am intense off-flavor that is a bit lactic and very faintly sour cream-like. That off flavor really distracted me from everything that was going on here. Ultimately, this could have been an OK offering, but is disappointing. I have their DIPA that I will be trying next, and I'm hoping for different results.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium amber in color with light amounts of visible carbonation as well as some orange highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy light beige head that quickly reduces to a large patch of extremely thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass (which is a little wider with large bubbles for about a quarter of the circumference of the glass). Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light amounts of malts with a hint of fruity sweetness and some light notes of citrus/orange hops, pine hops, and a hint of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate amount of caramel malts with some hints of light fruity sweetness (I get some hints of pear and peach). There are light flavors of citrus/orange, pine, and earthy hops. A light amount of bitterness is present which fades but the last little bit seems to linger for quite a while.

M: Medium bodied with slightly more than moderate amounts of carbonation. Upfront it is crisp with a light amount of stickiness in the finish.

O: This beer is easy to drink and has a pretty decent balance between the sweetness from the malts and the bitterness of the hops. Decent combination of flavors/aromas from the hops and the malts do not overpower. Glad I grabbed this one on a whim when I saw the offering from the new brewery.

Bottled on March 2, 2013. Really glad to see a bottle date on a local beer in lieu of a best by or nothing at all.

A-Orangish-yellow in color, clean looking beer with no sediment. One finger head that leaves a small amount of lacing on the way down.

S-Aroma is mild, but pleasant. Sweet malty aroma with piney hops.

T-Follows the nose with the sweet, caramel hops upfront balanced by the piney/earthy hop flavor. Also picking up faint notes of tropical fruit flavors towards the back end of the taste.

M-Smooth and a little bit syrupy, slightly higher than average levels of carbonation.

O-Solid well balanced IPA. Hands down one of the better NC IPA's IMO. Will definitely be seeking this one out again in the future and looking forward to trying more of their beers.
